They probably would have released any damaging sound bites. So maybe she’s learning very quickly what to say and what not to say, even to world “leaders”. People say she’s a quick study, and this phone call may actually prove that.

It has to be a fake Palin -- no one running for office, no matter how unsophisticated in the ways of international affairs could possibly believe they were getting a cold call from the President of France. If it is her on that call, I'm afraid it doesn't do much for the 'she's a quick study' theory.

Well be afraid then, because it was her. On the plus side, she sounded very nice and friendly. On the down side, well, let's just say that the folks who already think she's a drag on McCain's ticket will have lots of new material now.

3. Actually, in her defense,

Her campaign people had actually spent a few days vetting and setting the call, so it wasn't a cold call. It had been planned for and scheduled.

Her staff let her down... And she behaved exactly as I probably would have if talking to a world leader that I might someday be working with. You just play along with it, no matter how odd the person starts sounding. And when they had the big reveal, she kept her cool and was merely amused at least as far as the recorded audio shows. For all we know after the phone was hung up she could have field dressed the responsible underlings on the spot.
