I was out visiting "sporadic" voters in Detroit today
Everyone I talked to seemed absolutely committed to showing up for Obama on Tuesday. Many volunteered that they have been bugging their friends and relatives to make sure that everyone shows up. Good news.

More good news is that Detroit has added voting machines and claims to now have one machine for every 100 voters. The state requires a 1-to-300 ratio.

This shows why McCain totally gave up on Michigan early on.

1. Thank you. I'm glad that state law requires a certain ratio of machines to people.

I wonder how many states have a law like that.

2. Detroit or the 'burbs?
If this is the sentiment in the city itself, I will sleep well and have happy dreams tonight.

And, my God, did the City Council actually do something useful? (the voting machines)

4. I'm starting to think that maybe the problem isn't having enough voting machines
I saw a video on YouTube today and the woman was in Georgia. She said that the polling place had enough voting machines, what they were lacking were the card machines that make your voting card unique (I don't know what they're called). Anyone, the place only had one of those for all the hundreds of voters in line and that was slowing everything down.

I know when I've voted in the past (since electronic voting), any polling place I've been to has only had one of those "card machines" too. Not to get down on the fine seniors who volunteer at polling places but they're not the quickest folks at using those card machines.
