Palin: "I'm not doing this for naught" (wants to return in 2012 if she loses)
Just reported on CNN. It's apparently from an ABC interview. She was asked if she would consider a 2012 run if she loses this year or would she just go back to Alaska. Her answer was that she wouldn't just walk away from the national stage if she loses because, "I'm not doing this for naught."

Wolf Blitzer asked Dana Bash about this. Bash apparently had already asked one of McCain's advisers about this statement and the advisor was speechless.

5. Not likely

After the embarrassment of Stevens' conviction, and her close ties to him, Alaskans won't elect her to Congress.

7. I disagree
Palin could run for Stevens' empty Senate seat in the future if she wanted to and probably win it.

9. When will Stevens seat be empty?

He's not resigning and the Democratic leadership has already said they have no plans on forcing him out.

Begich will most likely beat Stevens anyway.

She can go up against Don Young if he wins this year, but his machine is as strong as Stevens'.

Don't let Palin's high approval rating in Alaska fool you. Murkowski had a high rating and he was voted out.

2. She really does see herself as the darling of the party.
4 years from now, the AIP stuff will stick, the crazy fundie stuff will have sunk in, I think America will say "Er, no thanks."

4. By 2012 she'll be just a footnote

She won't win re-election in Alaska and will fade into memory.

6. No, just for $150,000+ in beautiful gifts and prizes
Fortunately, a lasting political presence is not on that list.

8. So, at a time where she should be responding that she is focused on this race
and beating their "opponents," she chooses to totally veer off course and proclaim that she's in this for the long haul, basically that she sees 2012 as her next best chance, and that she is all but admitting defeat in this go-round. HAHAHA!!! I bet McGrumpy is feeling a little more Grumpy right now. His running mate basically conceding the race and preparing for 2012. WOW. Pretty unbelievable that with one week left in the biggest race of her life, she quite easily makes a decision to discuss what will benefit HER the most regardless of the outcome of THIS race. If anyone has ever questioned her narcissism, let this be the defining evidence to the contrary. She is in this for herself, nothing more. Nothing less.
