14. Barnicle - attacking Kerry's service is "blood libel" - if he can't stand
up to defend himself against that, he doesn't deserve to be president...

Excuse me? Why is this all about Kerry? Why not "if the president won't stop the blood libel attacks on Kerry, he doesn't deserve to be president."

Kerry has been hitting Bush and hitting him hard ever since the convention. Yet all Tweety can talk about is how supposedly Kerry has screwed up SO bad by letting Bush turn him into the issue. But Bush and the Republicans didn't turn Kerry into the issue - they simply are doing what they always do, fighting as dirty as they can. It's the MEDIA that is deciding what the issue is, and to them, it's all Kerry all the time..

8. Why are so many Dems turning on Kerry?
I saw Congressman Artur Davis on a local news program and he wasn't bashing Kerry, but said Kerry didn't really have any good ideas on fighting terrorism and making us safe. This is a pretty good Dem - black man with a lot of support in Alabama. But it is shameful he didn't point out Kerry's qualities instead of demeaning him.

20. Matthews and Myers are right
Kerry has no organized message. Matthews said he would beat Bush up on 1) his saying medicare was fine and the next day the premiums increase big time; 2) the middle class squeeze; 3) tax cuts for the rich; 4) sky high deficits and then hit him on Iraq.

He's right. I am STUNNED that Kerry has no well-organized message. If this guy cannot articulate a powerful anti-Bush message, he doesn't deserve to be president.

Don't flame me guys. I've given much $$$$ to Kerry.

On the record Bush deficit:

QUOTE
"Only George W. Bush could celebrate over a record budget deficit of $422 billion, a loss of 1.6 million jobs and Medicare premiums that are up by a record 17 percent,'' Kerry said. ``W stands for wrong - the wrong direction for America.''

The Congressional Budget Office is predicting that this year's federal deficit will reach $422 billion, the highest ever . . . .

http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/stor...4479213,00.html

On outsourcing:

QUOTE
"Because of George Bush's wrong choices, this country is continuing to ship good jobs overseas - jobs with good wages and good benefits,'' Kerry said in remarks prepared for delivery at town hall meeting. ``All across America, companies have shut their doors, putting hardworking people out of a job, leaving entire communities without help or hope.''

http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/stor...4479213,00.html

On Bush's role in increasing terrorism:

QUOTE
"Terrorists have secured havens in Iraq that were not there before. . . . Violence has spread in Iraq, Iran has expanded its influence, and extremism has gained momentum."

http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/04246/372204.stm

On wrong choices in Iraq:

QUOTE
"The most catastrophic choice is the mess that he has made in Iraq," Kerry said. "This was his choice. He chose the date of the start of this war, he choice the moment, and he chose for America to go it alone. And today, all of America is paying this price."

http://abcnews.go.com/wire/Politics/ap20040907_805.html

On the cost of Bush's wrong choices in Iraq:

QUOTE
He called the administration's claim that there were coalition forces fighting alongside 125,000 Americans troops "the phoniest thing I've ever heard."

"You've got about 500 troops here, 500 troops there, and it's American troops that are 90 percent of the combat casualties, and it's American taxpayers that are paying 90 percent of the cost of the war," he said.

"This president rushed to war without a plan to win the peace, and he's cost all of you $200 billion that could have gone to schools, could have gone to health care, could have gone to prescription drugs, could have gone to our Social Security."

EVERY night to get his message across

he and/or Edwards

FORCE them to cover his message

MAKE them cover him live, for ten minutes at a crack

will they REFUSE?

Kerry should start doing this, and have some boilerplate answers to EVERYThing they ask him, including stuff about Bush making people sign LOYALTY oaths to see him....SEARCHING peoples' clothing; he should DEMAND that Bush make himself similarly available on TV; start talking about the utter quagmire in Iraq (after bulletproofing his answer about his IWR vote, etc); hammering him about raising medicare premiums; how Bush IGNORED the warnings in August 2001, and WENT FISHING...stuff that RESONATES with people

34. Kerry's message is not getting through and it's not just the media's fault
Remember in '92? Clinton and Gore said again and again, "It's medicare, medicaid, social security and the environment." They said it so much on every program that people were singing it.

If you could reduce Kerry's campaign message to a phrase, what would it be????

He doesn't have one. THAT'S THE PROBLEM. And the media is not responsible for that.

56. Our world is too complicated to reduce this campaign to ONE phrase
That's one of the problems - lazy mediawhores and gullible voters (including, obviously, some Democras) expect Kerry to boil our complex frightening domestic and international issues into one sentence. That cannot be done. But Kerry's message is a concise one . . .

He'll win the peace in Iraq and bring strength and security to a new world
He'll turn the economy around and get it back on track
He's a grownup who won't play cowboy with America's future

The media whores are not covering it; then they say he doesn't articulate these points, when they know very well that he does, or else they're just stealing from what someone else has said to keep from doing their own homework. The dem talking heads need to be beaten. They should be saying this, but then, maybe, they're not doing their homework either. Can't the campaign hand out talking points and rebuttals, for God's sake?

59. Kerry does and is
giving a well organized message on the stump, every day. But unless you attend it in person, or it happens to be televised on C-Span, you are not going to hear the substance of his message.

Big Media will come back and tell you every day, after every Kerry speech, that "he's not getting his message out" and "he's letting * define him."

Nooooooooooo, BIG MEDIA is not covering Kerry's message and BIG MEDIA is presenting *'s snotty comments as "real debate" night after night after night. There is no clearer example of this strategy than what happened on CBS Evening News tonight with John Roberts reporting. Instead of playing the substance of Kerry's speech today on the failure of the Iraq War, CBS focused on the line Kerry said that echoed what Dean had said. CBS then showed * claiming that Kerry had yet again changed his position. Then John Roberts says that Kerry is allowing * to define who he is, because Kerry can't get his message out. End of report.

So blatant, blatant, blatant, what Big Media is doing. They are helping the GOP frame Kerry while shrugging their shoulders and wringing their hands over "why can't Kerry get his message out and define who he is??"

It is a truly disgusting chapter in the history of journalism and politics in America.

Many sat by smugly while the Kerry campaign let it happen without
the kind of counter-attack that was needed. Pointless complaining
that the media is going with a winning incumbent -- that goes without
saying.

Kerry should have finished Bush during the Dem convention. Whoever
decide that Dems should be "nice," failed the entire progressive
movement. That was our only real chance to show Bush for the
lying, incompetent, mental defective that he is.

65. Kerry's Message
Kerry can have all the press releases, and scattershot campaign events he wants, and we can all blame the media, but Kerry can't answer 2 simple questions, and that's why he's behind:

(1) I, John Kerry want to be President because ________.

(2) The 4 things I'm going to do when I'm elected are _________.

Until he answers those questions, and keeps the same answer, and repeats endlessly, he's toast. Period.
