Fort Worth Star Telegram................ ENDORSES BARACK OBAMA........YEEHAW
Edited on Sun Oct-26-08 02:33 PM by MagickMuffin
:kick:

I've been waiting for this, and I wasn't sure who they would endorse. They chose the BEST CANDIDATE for our country.

http://www.star-telegram.com/225/v-print/story/996463.html

For many of the same reasons that the Star-Telegram recommended Democrat Bill Clinton in 1992, it is recommending Democrat Barack Obama in 2008.

Obama provides the prescription for America’s ills at this moment: a fine, inquisitive intellect, paired with an eloquence that allows him to articulate a message with clarity and substance; an ability to inspire people of all ages, races and ethnicities who never before were engaged in the political process; and an unflappable temperament that allows him to weather a barrage of withering personal attacks.

Under his leadership, the Obama campaign has been amazingly disciplined, efficient and effective. Those same talents will be essential for the difficult work ahead to rebuild the nation’s faltering economic institutions and restore citizen confidence.

1. Un-fucken-real.
There is some kind of chemistry going on in this country right now, like all the people with IQ's above 80 and some vestiges of a conscience are rallying to the side of decency. Sorta like the body politic is activating its immune system to rid itself of a disease of the soul.

10. It most certainly is Un-fucken-real
We here in Tarrant County are going to turn it BLUE.

The "body politic" has been very toxic for way too long. I think we are prepared for our shot of reality of putting Americans First. I don't know which Country McCain wants to put first, I guess that DEPENDS on whoever Rick Davis is Lobbying.

2. Yay!
Dallas Morning News went for McCain, but I'm not really surprised. We went to the Austin Obama HQ yesterday to volunteer, and found the place PACKED with activity and people. I asked a guy working there if it was always like that, or if it had just been in the last couple weeks, and he said it had been steadily busy since August, and that in his 30 years in politics, he'd never seen anything like it, and that he fully expected Texas to surprise people this year. They were sold out of most of their Texans for Obama shirts, and expect to run out of yard signs by Tuesday. We may not go blue, but I think we'll be pretty damned purple, and maybe Republicans will learn to stop taking a red Texas for granted.

6. If the Democrats would ALWAYS vote Texas wouldn't be "red"
As a Precinct Chair I have seen the data. The Democrats just don't get out to vote.

I think this year WILL BE DIFFERENT.

Tarrant County has been working really hard for Obama. Phone banking, Canvassing, Parties. If we can turn Tarrant BLUE then watch out. Tarrant County was the second largest populated city in 04 that voted for Mad king Boy George.

NOT THIS TIME!

15. Collin County Dems are doing their part to help turn TX blue!
Collin County, damn near the reddest county in TX....

There was a Democratic tent set up outside the 100 ft mark of one of the polling sites. There must have been 60 or more voters who came over to have their pics taken with Obama/Biden signs after they had voted, taking bumper stickers and yard signs. All ages, nationalities, families with their kids. It was incredible to see, especially given this county's voting history!
Someone had to go get more signs/stickers from the Dem office down the street cuz we ran out. Took their email addresses so the pics can be sent to them. Signed up some who agreed to volunteer on election day.

20. Is it any wonder that Mad king Boy George is retiring to "big" D
I guess DMN is still brainwashed or braindead.

Either way they are living in the past and NOT looking to the Future.

23. He won't be returning to Dallas
He is returning to Highland Park...where a Mcmansion would be considered a small frame house compared to the houses he will be living amongst.
He just to say "Dallas" cuz it makes it sound like we LIKE him down here and it sounds good in soundbites for the repukes.
When he had his "rally" on the eve of election day 2004, he literally snuck into town about midnight, local time, and went to SMU where there was a ticket-only event and the crowd was filled with his fellow repuke zillionaires, making it look like on the national scene that "Dallas" was welcoming him home and cheering him on. He then was whisked away down to his "ranch". Coming at midnight allowed him to have less protestors surrounding the SMU campus.
Dallas County went 49% blue that election day. You wouldn't have known it could happen by watching his faux "Dallas rally".

26. Well, technically Highland Park is a part of Dallas
Just the "Well to do" crowd.

Yeah I remember Mad king Boy George's visit to Dallas in 04. He's a coward from the 60's to current day.

16. MM, JR Labbe spoke to our Sunday School class this morning. She told us about
the endorsement, and the process they pursued.

She said the dealbreaker for her was Sarah Palin.

For those of you who don't see our paper, the whole front and inside front pages of the Opinion section are devoted to the endorsement.
