Looks like Bush's training squadron earned an AFOUA
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 09:29 AM by Walt Starr
Checking on the training squadron Bush was in during his piolot training, I came up with this:

AFOUA 3550th Student Squadron 3 Mar 69-15 Feb 71 DAFSO GB 430/71

Looking at the timing of this, the picture still does not add up unless he was a First Lieutenant rather than a Second Lieutenant in the photograph. The absolute earliest the award could have been given to his training squadron was February 16, 1971, yet the absolute latest the photograph could have been taken is November 6, 1970.

Again, Bush's photograph from the records he released:

Something still does not add up, and the award is never listed in his documentation. This warrants at least an investigation by the Pentagon.

3. AFOUA is the award on the left side as you look at the photo
The strange thing too is, training units that receive unit wards only qualify the trainers to wear the award, not the trainees. At least, that was the case when I was in the Army.

Any Air force Vets who were instructors out there who knows how this works in the Air force?

Hi, Walt!
Your first posts of this story were in Mike's Latest News, and that's how I found DU. I am in your debt.:hi:

14. Michael Moore.com
from "Must Read". One of you sent it to him, and the page got popped up to the front! In fact, the site was off-line around 11 pm (which I thought odd). So thank you, DUers, and especially Walt!

5. Hi Walt . . .
. . . I just want to take a minute to thank you for all of your hard work and tenacity in following up on the 'case of the mystery medals. The thing about the shrub is that things rarely add up around him. Because of that, I think that people have become complacent. (Another day, another chimp anomaly.) Regardless, I commend you in your efforts to explain the unexplainable. I suspect that as fast as you unearth new truths, there is a fixer busy patching the holes. Stick with it Walt. There's definitely a stinky seed here somewhere and where there's one, there's bound to be another.

TYY:thumbsup:

7. I don't think Trainees
of a Training Squadron would get that award. I maybe wrong, but I believe it is meant for the permanent party who were the instructors/command element, and support, etc.

9. Where are the other guys in that unit?
Could we get their names and what metals they have, see when they recieved them?

Bush couldn't have been all alone in that unit.

10. He seems to have "soloed" in Alabama, too.

No one has ever come forward to affirm that he served with Bush* in Alabama. The widow of the guy he worked for on that campaign in Alabama never heard anything about him being in the National Guard, only that Poppy and Bar wanted him out of Texas because of his drunkenness.

11. All the media needs to do is interview 5 or 6 people in his unit...
...and see what medals they have.

Do I get my honorary Journalism degree now?

15. Still waiting for White House response
Edited on Tue Sep-07-04 01:58 PM by troubleinwinter
According to the article published 8/29/04 on this subject, a White House staffer was asked about this and responded that it would take some time to research it. So far, I have seen nothing about a WH response. Ya know anything????????

17. Thanks newyawker99, AND Walt!
Yep, it was Walt's work here that started me with DU! Saw somethin about his work somewhere & it brought me here. I betcha there are many more like me. Does my soul good to read that there are so many that help to keep us informed of the news that we cannot find on teeeveee. I am not a Democrat. I am, in Calif., registered as "Decline to State (party affiliation)". I refuse to be 'claimed' by ANY of em. Nonetheless, I am a radical pro-Kerry/Edwards, cuz I am a fanatical, hysterical anti-Bushwhack/Rummy/Cheney/ASSCROFT!!!! (otherwise, pretty moderate). Why, I have even been known to vote Rep., occasionally.

53 yr. old fem.

Thanx to all, and TX again for the welcome, ny99!

Just thought it might cheer ya up to know that it is not just the "die hard liberal demo's" that are with ya on this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here is a "moderate" who is with ya allll the way against the madman. The war is mad, and so are his domestic policies (as if he has any, other than our destruction). :grr:
