WTF is wrong with you people?
"The Secret Service can't be trusted to protect Obama!"
"The Vote is being stolen again!"
"I'm through with the Democratic Party!"
"Where are those lawyers who are being paid to do nothing?"
"Why can't Biden keep his big mouth shut?"
"Why is SNL making fun of liberals?"
"All Christians are evil and not to be trusted!"
"The bailout is being used for CEO bonuses!"
"Civil servants are not to be trusted!"

And on and on and on...

There have been more idiotic, paranoid, whiny, defeatist posts on here in the past day than I can ever remember. It is as if we are morphing into Freepers ourselves.

People: WE ARE WINNING! EVERYTHING IS GOING SWIMMINGLY! THERE ARE NINE DAYS TO GO UNTIL THE REPIGS ARE HISTORY! WOULD YOU PLEASE STOP TRYING TO SNATCH DEFEAT FROM THE JAWS OF VICTORY?

Sheesh!

6. Mostly I agree with you. But election tampering IS happening.
Not like it matters, I'm not sure they can swing enough votes in enough states for it to matter. And even if we do document it, we can never make anything happen to fix it, I've been watching plenty of other people try and fail.

47. my point was somewhat pessimistic.
Basically we can never seem to do anything about the voting irregularities. I'm not saying it doesn't matter, more that we can't ever seem to do anything about it, and nobody who could seems to want to help. So why not just give up... Sometimes I get really pessimistic.

15. "Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory"
is exactly what is happening around here.

I think that people should realize that there is a "perfect storm" going on and even with stolen votes, there seems to be a consensus forming around people either voting for Obama or sitting home if they don't like him or McKKKlan. As Clinton said, "It's the economy, stupid", and the past month, the few sane ones left of the repukes waited too long before trying to bail the water out of their sinking party ship. What they are doing now, coupled with Shrub's legacy, is 100 times worse than what happened with Tricky Dick.

We also need to STOP FOCUSING ON 2004 AND LOOK AT 2006. The dynamics of 2006 is what Obama-Biden is riding and that wave has only grown stronger since.

The beauty is that thanks to sites like this and people who donated mega-millions worth from what they could cobble together, the Obama campaign was then comfortably able to take advantage of the 2006 tsunami and have the resources to "hang loose" (as they say in Hawai'i) and body surf that massive wave safely to the shore.

I never thought I'd see the day....

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=7608000&mesg_id=7608000

I don't know if he's on this or not. I don't know if his attorney's are on this or not. I don't know what Dr. Dean is doing about this. All I know is that fucking happening again . . . and all the media is talking about is what Sarah Palin's opportunities will be post the election.

If we aren't diligent - and don't remain humble and focused on the ultimate prize - her option might be having the codes to bring about her 'revelation fantasies' via a Nuclear Holocaust.

This election I have actually been subdued and held back my enthusiasm. Know why? I was the equivalent of a so-called "Obama-Bot" (Hate that terminology) in 2000 and 2004. Forgive me if I'm a bit beaten down and have zero-faith in the Democratic Process.

Remember - sometimes even when you win, you don't really win. . .

I have been around here for more than a few election cycles. You will find that just before election time it seems like " There have been more idiotic, paranoid, whiny, defeatist posts on here in the past day than I can ever remember. It is as if we are morphing into Freepers ourselves". "

You have answered your own question, thats because there are freepers coming around with not so obvious flame bait, divisive, demoralizing posts. Thats what they do, not all come around and boldly announce what they are up to, not all are the blatantly obvious Ashley Todd types.

Two things that I find useful are the user profile to see how long they have been posting, less than a year and my radar goes up then I use the search feature in the upper right hand corner. Just type in the posters name and it will pull up their posts, which will give you a good feel for what types of posts and replies they typically make. I did just that very thing with you before posting this reply.

Just get used to it if you plan on staying around for a while, its all part of the fun. Just do what I do, "I respond before I react".

And having been an outside observer then as opposed to a registered/posting member now . . . you are right re: trolls.

I'm not a 'naysayer' as I suspect you aren't either. I just know what happened in 2000 and 2004 and so if I seem a bit subdued . . . it's because it could happen again.

Thanks for your above insight. ;-)

22. were you around in 2000? . . . in 2004? . . .
in both of those elections, the Democratic candidate won both the popular and the electoral votes . . . and yet . . .

and yet . . .

and yet . . .

we had four years of George W. Bush, and all of the incompetence and illegality and immorality that implies . . .

same people are running the voting machines and counting the votes this year . . . not to mention purging voters all over the country . . . and engaging in who-knows-what other kinds of electoral shenanigans . . .

so forgive me if I'm not at all confident in the outcome of this election . . . yes, Obama will get more votes than McCain . . . but that doesn't mean he'll be declared the winner and take the oath in January . . . not by a long shot . . .

We're worried. Previous elections (2000, 2002, and 2004) give us good reason to be worried. Previous assassinations (JFK, MLK, RFK) give us good reason to be worried.

I am naturally suspicious of anti-rhetorical rants. I don't like being told to "shut up" or "get over it." If you have been harmed by the speech you describe, in any real way, I'd like to hear about it. I doubt you have been harmed, and, therefore, I am suspicious.

And those of us that try, get told "Don't get cocky!" and "We shouldn't stay home/stop donating/stop volunteering because we are doing well in polls. It isn't November 5th!" 57. We're like abused pets.
Even adopted into the most loving, friendly home imaginable, with toys and treats as far as the eye can see, at least for a while we can still remember what it felt like to be kicked vividly enough that the sight of feet still makes us twitch.

Substitute your favorite PTSD metaphor or simile if that one doesn't work for you. We've got a thread in our psyche telling us that this victory we all see coming is too good to be true, and somehow it's going to be snatched away from us AGAIN. We don't have that Charlie Brown consciousness that allows us to believe Lucy is going to let us kick the football for real this time.

I think that negative voice is a lie this time. But if it keeps us motivated to GOTV like we're losing, then it might be a useful piece of damage.

I probably won't FULLY allow myself to TRULY believe that President Obama is really, really real until he's been in office for about a year and a half.

58. Nothing is wrong with anyone showing concern or asking questions.
I'm a huge Obama supporter and work hard to get the info out about him and help change peoples minds, but it can't always be 100% optimistic for everyone all of the time. So many of us know what the GOP is capable of in terms of dirty tricks and stealing election and this creates doubt, fear or concern that it wont be a landslide for Obama. We remain reserved, yet hopeful and try not to get too cocky, just like Obama says.

I think it's a shame that people around here can't express their concerns or ask questions to appease their fears without being jumped all over, called a troll or many other unpleasant names i wont mention...

We should all be here for one another and not have to tread lightly or hide our fears and concerns. This is a place where we all have a common goal and share similar beliefs, so I don't understand why some of the more enthusiastic posters wont give their fellow dems the benefit of the doubt and a little compassion when we find our selves worried about the next hit Obama might take. You should be more helpful and reassuring to those people, not freak out on them and accuse them of being idiots, paranoid or defeatists.

No one if trying to snatch anything from anyone, they come here, post there concerns and hope their fellow posters will put their mind at ease. There's nothing wrong with that, and I'm ashamed of any one of us who would attack a fellow democrat for freely expressing their fears and allowing us to see their vulnerable side. No one can be "RaRa we're winning, YAY!" all the time. You need to give people a break and let them express their feelings and concerns. If no one allows others to express concerns or ask questions then people turn away from this party and just think we as a party don't have the answers and are no better then the Freepers.

Take a page from Obama's play book and show people who question him some patience, compassion and understanding in a calm demeanor.
Or you can take your cue from McCain and Palin and freak out on people who ask you honest questions because you don't have all the answers.

59. WTF is wrong with YOU? We're fine.
If you have a complaint about the things people say, there's a way you can actually REPLY to their posts. Try that, instead of making idiotic broad based smears that don't say anyting about anyone but you.
