In retrospect, 8 years ago probably wasn't the time to quit drinking...
But I can tell you this, I think it will be a good idea to celebrate with a few on November 4th. Maybe even a cigar. And some pie!

Wow, I can say this, it has been a rough 8 years, I have seen so many people hit hard times. Family members. Friends and neighbors. I've seen restaurants and other businesses I've gone to from time to time go out of business over the years. I've had relatives and friends fight in Iraq.

We've all been tested.

But things are good. I can see light at the end of the tunnel. Still have work to do, but we'll get there.

I can feel it. There's something happening. We're about to make history.

And I couldn't be happier. :)

1. things are not good
even if Obama gets elected, I cannot imagine where he will even begin to clean up the mess - and the forces are already in place for the economy to keep collapsing well after Nov 4. I will celebrate the end of the bush nightmare but I don't see really being happy for some time to come.

4. Debbie Downer!
When you've hit the bottom, just being on the right track is good. :)

16. I'm just giving you a little hell
With me everybody I know has already gone under and is coming back. Well, I'm from a reservation, good for us is pretty much bad for everybody else, so I'm just happy to see anything looking slightly better.

2. I bought a really good bottle of Scotch to "celebrate" 2004--
Edited on Sat Oct-25-08 07:22 PM by hlthe2b
Kerry's win...:eyes:

Obviously I did not do more than open the bottle-- then put it back on the shelf (I'm not much of a hard liquor drinker, but I thought it deserved something more than beer or wine).

So, do I pull it out for November 4, or is it jinxed? Seriously! It may be premium scotch, but I'll ditch it in a heart beat, if it means the difference in an Obama win or further demoralization the next 4 years.

12. I am doing that too. (poll inspection)
I suspect I may still be pretty wired when I get home . . . but, then again, I'm hoping we'll have the final results by then.

3. It's the end of the world as we know it.... and I feel fine!
No matter how bad the repukes have screwed things for President Obama, we'll at least be back on the right track and that is enough to make me feel the same way that you do. Although I don't drink, I do have an inebriating vice that I'm not willing to give up and you can bet I'll be enjoying some of that on election night! In the big, chunky voice of John Sinclair, "it's allllll goooood."

19. Please don't.
If you're sober eight years, no point in ruining it.

You're stronger than that!

21. well I haven't been totally sober for 8 years
I'll have a beer or two once in a while. But I've given up drinking as a regular activity. I haven't actually had more than a few drinks at one time in 7 years? Something like that. I just don't like to do it. I'm practically a saint nowadays. :)

22. yeah I actually think I've only been drunk
Twice in 8 years. I up and gave up partying over 11 years ago one day. Then a few years later I did a little bit here and there, but once I moved out of my home state, I basically have stayed away from that. I was never an alcoholic or anything, not even close, but I have friends that ended up being ones. Just not my style, I'd rather read a book or watch a movie than hit a bar, lol. I only have a beer or two on certain occasions, like dinner out with relatives or something. I think I had the night of the 2006 midterms. :)

23. Know that feeling. I used to be a hard party drinker about 10 years back
I had wisdom teeth issues. Then I had to stop drinking after that surgery. I never went back to the same way I used to be.

Now I'm such a lightweight. My wife calls me 'her cheap drunk'. Every now and then I get a bug to down a double shot of some pure Agave tequila. However, I don't do much more than that anymore and usually I only do that once a year, at best.

That's so true! I had a glass of wine at dinner a few years back, damn, I was buzzed hard, lol. I'm a total lightweight now. I'm good with that though.
