| there are groups of "Yes on 8" supporters all over my town right now. |
|
i just went out to get some iced coffee and i saw at least 8 different groups, bonus round--they are using their small children to hold up signs.
Worst thing besides the fact that's going on, i saw a woman i know, i stopped for a moment to talk to her and she said she knew i was unhappy about it but "You know Kim, gay marriage is just wrong" so i asked her why it was right to tell the small kids there that "the gays" are going to try and make them gay and why is ok to tell children that the Constitution no longer matters? It was pretty distressing and the people there were awful, Renee was the only non scary looking person i saw. "I'm sorry Kim, please don't hate me" and i told her i didn't but i was really sad and disappointed and i needed to leave before i said something i couldn't take back. "Renee you know deep down this is bullshit, i know you know that, bye"

| 1. Good For You. Losing your temper doesn't help, but I would think |
|
that using kids to promote ideas they can't possibly understand would backfire?

| 2. Not much of a difference between this and intermarriage, in fact in some parts |
|
of the country they still have it on the books as illegal for intermarriage between the races
Unfortunately, my neighbor accross the street has a big vote yes on prop 8
I hope most of my otherfellow Californians have more sense and vote NO

| 3. what I've never understood about this issue |
|
is why liberal groups don't take the tack of indignation about the government telling churches what they can/can't do.
It would take the wind out the fundies' sails

| 7. What never gets brought up in the context of "kids" |
|
is that there are millions of gay kids.
A lot of folks will tell you that they knew what their biological orientation was at age 10, 11, 12 or even younger.
Who is standing up for them?

| 10. There was a group of yes on 8 people |
|
in Scotts Valley today. At least I didn't hear anyone honking or showing approval.
My husband and I have already mailed our no on 8 absentee ballots.
