Top Ten Reasons Earthlings will be in Tears on Nov 5th
http://political-zazen.blogspot.com/2008/10/top-ten-reasons-earthlings-will-be-in.html

I'm pretty confident that somewhere between 11pm and 12pm on Nov 4th, 2008... most people on earth will break down in tears as Barack Obama comes before the cameras as the President-elect of the United States of America.

3. It will be like waking up from a VERY LONG nightmare.
Is that a glimmer of light I see through the dark clouds Bush has drawn over the world?

4. On this, we agree !

I've been scanning YouTube for videos showing support for Obama all over the world. The list seems endless. Everywhere from Thailand to Ireland, the world wants to see Obama win.

7. yep...
and it's not going to be as simple as race or politics or whatever.

i think humanity was most united in the months after 9/11 and that got lost along the way, and one element of an Obama victory will be a sudden rekindling of that feeling...

in fact, i think americans will be in awe at the global response.

it goes way beyond merely hating bush, too.

9. those words wont do it for me...
it's when he comes to the stage... finally gets the crowd to stop cheering... takes a deep breath... and we all realize the best man won... as he starts to speak.

8. I'm getting a little choked up reading this...
I cried when he made the speech in Iowa
I cried when he made the speech on Race
I REALLY cried when he accepted the nomination (to the point my husband asked if I was OK)
Every day feels like a milestone

and YES I completely understand when Michelle Obama said she is proud of this country for the first time. Me too.

10. I won't be crying: I'll be yelling. Loudly and joyfully.
When it's officially called for Obama I think I'll take a victory lap or ten around the property here. Couple of laps of the field, hooting and laughing, laughing, laughing, with delight that he did it and with sorrow that it took 8 years.

I'll be spontaneously grinning for a week.

11. I've already burst into tears
several times just thinking about it. I'm going to bring a dish towel to the polling place with me - a hanky won't be enough.

That I lived to see this is something I never expected and for which I will always be thrilled.

12. it's the expectations game... yes
i think that's the root.

this has been a depressing era not only in american history but human history, and obama being elected based on raw and unapologetic hope is pretty staggering.

13. If Obama wins the world will commence with the largest mass
psychological healing in the history of mankind. Everyone will see that America, with all of its flaws, was able to overthrow the criminal regime that has be more or less brutalizing the world for forty years.

But, until then, make sure YOU do everything possible to see to it that the will of the people is upheld in the election.

14. Oh I'm going to bawl my goddamned head off.
Seriously. I'm going to alternate sobbing with joy with screaming and then change it up and throw in some random staring in shock at nothing and just trying to process it, then screaming again, followed by another round of sobbing and possibly slapping my palms against the floor and maybe throwing confetti into the air.

And drinking a lot.

I'm not expected at work on the fifth.

17. Especially if my biggest dream on the electoral map
comes true. And I'm not even going to type it out for fear of jinxing it. If it happens, believe me, people will be posting about it here.

If THAT particular thing happens, it'll take me weeks to get over the very happy shock of it.

19. RELEASE...
They're the kind of tears for which I won't want a Kleenex! I'll just let em go... I suspect you are right.

For 8 long, miserable years I've been building this unbelievable toxic bubble inside. I recall days before W and the way it seemed pepople HAD an outlooks on the future, then days since W, and how it feels as IF there's no future for us but a dead one.

To let it go... to let all that go behind me, I've got to let it rip. It'll probably come in waves as full reality sets in. Then, I know I'LL be able to return to myself again.

Amen.

24. My partner, a 55 year old African-American man
who cries easily but doesn't like to admit it, is going to be *beside* himself. Me, I'm gonna run out in the street and scream "PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!!!"...and then go back in and hug him.

Of course, my reason for crying back then was quite a bit different ...

27. I woke up and my husband tried to joke that it was just a bad dream
and it really hit me. I've talked to so many others who were numb in 2004 - how could so many people fall for this bullshit. And now so many are seeing obama for what he is - not his skin color, not his name, not his party, just his ability to be a strong leader.

I think I'll cry right now
