"The floozy sealed his fate."

From a comment about McCain at the end of this article:

INDIANAPOLIS - A series of new polls released Thursday indicated a bleak outlook for John McCain's presidential campaign, even in traditionally Republican states.

The polls had McCain trailing Democrat Barack Obama in the battleground states of Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

"Senator Obama is no longer the candidate of the young, the well-educated and minorities. He is now virtually the candidate of the 'all,' " said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, which conducted polls in the battleground states. "He is winning among all age groups in all three states. He wins women by more than 20 points in Ohio and Pennsylvania and is competitive among men in all three states. Whether voters went to college or not, they are voting for him."
The Quinnipiac polls of likely voters were taken Oct. 16-21 and had a margin error of plus or minus 2.6 percentage points.

Separately, a new CBS News/New York Times poll said that a number of groups that supported President Bush in 2004, including married women, suburban voters and White Roman Catholics, now prefer Obama to McCain. Even White men, long solidly Republican, favor Obama, according to the poll, which had Obama leading McCain by 51 percent to 38 percent.

The poll among likely voters was taken Oct. 19-22 and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

1. White Roman Catholics: The key to any election.
We need to make known every time they pick a fundie that that Evangelicals (and other Fundie sects) do not consider Catholics to be "Christians."

It needs to be pushed. HARD.

2. The fundies don't consider anyone but themselves to be Christians.
That should turn off everyone of any religion.

3. We should be singing it to the rafters. For mainstream Protestants, Orthies, and Catholics alike.

Watch the fundies scurry like rats when it gets COMPLETELY open and know.

I was raised in a VERY Catholic part of the country. Most Catholics are COMPLETELY unaware of this.

It's what started my push to Liberal in the first place.

4. And convince them that the Repukes will not overturn Roe v. Wade
Point out the majority of the court at the time of Roe v. Wade and since had been Repuke appointed. It's a wedge issue and they aren't going to give it up by actually letting it get overturned.

This argument can succeed with Roman Catholics who should vote Democratic and only don't because of abortion. I've seen it happen!

Also point out the lives lost in unnecessary wars counterbalance it.

5. There are a good deal of "Single Issue" Catholic voters.
This pretty much overrides the single issue in my book...but then again I was never a fanatic Catholic.

7. Exactly. They had six years with a solid lock on power.

All they did was bleat about gay marriage. They abandoned their anti-choice schtick *completely*.

8. Smart Dems don't.
Hell, I'm more of an Agnostic these days and I still say that I saw far more good in the modern church than bad.
