Rmemeber that? Pretty much EVERY "expert" agreed, even right up to election night that it was a HUGE long shot. And what happened? We did it.

I predicted we would.

I am predicting that this year we will ALSO exceed expectations. We will come out of this election w/ 62 Senate seats. We WILL win the seats in KY, MS and GA.

2. Actually, I heard a professor on Al Franken's radio show in 2006...
...predict that Democrats would win both the House and the Senate.

He's a professor in VA who gets quoted in the press a lot, but I can't recall his name right now.

3. Um, no. Most analysts projected us to get the House. They said that maybe the Senate was a long shot

8. If not for rethuglican ELECTORAL FRAUD, the Dems would have won more seats
in both houses of Congress. There has been rethuglican electoral fraud in EVERY national election since 2000. Selection 2000 brought the great pretender and his svengali to the White House. 2002 saw Max Clelland robbed of his Senate seat. 2004 saw the return of smirk and snarl. 2006 was the desperate rethuglican attempt to keep the Dems from bullet-proof majorities in both houses. The rethuglican high command is going kicking, screaming and mustering every dirty electoral trick they can muster to mitigate Congress from turning solid-majority Democrat, because they know the Dems in Congress are practically salivating over the possibility of Congressional hearings and legal actions against the cheney*/bush* junta and their Congressional collaborators.

9. RCP lists 15 in-play Senate races, ordered by estimated likelihood of incumbent party loss:
Notice that all of the top 11 are Republicans! If we win all 11, we'll have cloture-guaranteed majority of 61 without Lieberman.

From http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/election_2008/battle_for_congress.html :

"Election '08: Senate, House & Governor Races

(Senate ... Races Ranked in Order of RCP Likelihood to Switch Party) (Senate - 51 D*, 49 R)

01. VA: (Open - R)
02. NM: (Open - R)
03. AK: (Stevens - R)

04. CO: (Open - R)
05. NH: (Sununu - R)
06. NC: (Dole - R)

07. OR: (Smith - R)
08. MN: (Coleman - R)
09. KY: (McConnell - R)

10. GA: (Chambliss - R)
11. MS: (Wicker - R)
12. LA: (Landrieu - D)
