Sirius knows who is listening to what through the online stream at all times. But the satellite radios have no ability to track listener patterns. The hardware isn't able to send data back to the satellites (think about it, that would be pretty amazing).

So basically, if you're listening to Samuels through a satellite radio Sirius has no idea.

Listening to both of them talk about Obama you'd think that you were listening to the right-wing channel. I generally agree with Bennett on most other things though and still find his show entertaining. I have never liked Samuels.

Hopefully the merger with XM will bring about some big changes on that channel.

My husband's theory about why they keep on the air is that she is cheap. They probably don't have

That's the only way to make a point. When I canceled, they asked me if I didn't like any of the other programming, I said that I certainly did and I found Sirius to be great. However, my dial stays on Sirius Left most of the time and I just couldn't in good conscience keep paying for a service that doesn't give me the programming I want on a channel that is central to my choosing the service.

The rep was very nice and promised to send the reasoning on and even gave me the number of the man in charge of talk programming. They even gave me a refund for my last months subscription.

If more people do this, then we can guarantee Samuels departure.

That's the problem: they don't. They think that liberal radio is a niche market and doesn't bring in the money like right-wing hate radio and to some extent its true. But liberal radio should work beautifully on a subscriber model like satellite but they don't spend enough to get decent programming. As a result, they just throw a rag-tag group of people out there that say they are "liberals" and hope for the best.

It's an afterthought to them - that is until enough of us CANCEL our subscriptions in protest. I know it seems drastic, but its the only way that anything will be done about it. BUt my reasoning is that the majority of my time with Sirius was spent on Talk Left and while I enjoyed the other programming on that channel and on others, I can't continue paying for a service that isn't holding up its end of the bargain with programming. I'll come back when changes are made, but not until then.

I am just using my IPhone in my vehicle to play tunes through my stereo and it works great. It's the only way subscriber-based radio will pay attention to listeners and provide programming they want.
