Margaret Hoover, Herbert's great-granddaughter just said that
FDR's "New Deal" didn't work, and that President Hoover was right and his policies didn't cause the Great Depression.

Proves the axiom: Blood is thicker than water.

9. Actually, Herbert Hover wasn't a bad guy.
He was just in over his head and clueless about what to do about the depression.
He was just the wrong guy to deal with that crisis.
He probably would have been a good president if the boom times the country was experiencing had continued.
Unlike Bush, who caused the current crisis and is an all around idiot and evil bastard.

4. In a few generations
some wastrel descendant of the Boosh family will insist that the second prez to bear that name didn't bring America's economy to its knees, end its time on the world stage as a superpower, and diminish its stature among nations. People won't believe that shit either.

7. Sadly
I fear you are correct, Ciirque du So-What.

Although it probably won't take that long - memories are short - things get whitewashed very quickly these days.

6. His policies DIDN'T cause the depression. He was unable to fix it. FDR kinda was....
FDR: More evidence Republicans aren't reality-based.
ER: Such unfortunate comments...

10. Too bad--Hoover really wasn't a bad guy...his economic policy just sucked.
I guess his great-granddaughter is still sore about that crushing loss FDR handed him in '32.

Also, I believe he was "rehabiliated" during the Truman administration when he was given a special post; in what I don't remember...

12. Can there be anything more inept than the GOP having a Hoover to speak on its behalf right now?
It's sort of like having Neville Chamberlain tell reporters after Dunkirk that now is not the time to be forceful with Hitler.
