The Bachmann backlash leads to RW nutjob and Repub infighting...
Perkins, an influential conservative leader, said in his letter that he believes Cole, whose committee has been hemorrhaging money in an uphill battle against Democratic congressional candidates, "made a grave error in judgment" by pulling ads from Musgrave's and Bachmann's districts.

"The left is attacking both of these outstanding women because they are true conservatives," Perkins said. "They vote pro-life and pro-family."

Perkins wrote that both candidates are in "winnable districts," and that "pulling funds from their campaigns sends the wrong message to their supporters and gives their opponents a chance to produce headlines that the NRCC has undermined these campaigns."

"This is no time to cut and run from a fight," Perkins wrote.

He added that he will "urge supporters" of the FRC to stop contributing to the NRCC "until it starts supporting and fighting for conservative candidates in close races."

2. Victory was the only thing that kept their coalition together.
I'm thrilled to see it coming apart at the seams.

5. Perkins is not the only toxic beast to crawl out of the GOP sewer
but he's one of the biggest.

He and Dobson and I suppose a lot of the other fundie celebs will be struggling for control of the Republican Party, beginning Nov. 5th if not sooner.

The corporate wing isn't going to like the Perkins/Dobson wing running much of anything, especially after the whomping McCain is about to undergo in part for his selection of crazy fundie Sarah Palin.

The best scenario for us is that the corporatists blame the fundies for losing the election and the conservative gains of the last Reagan/Bush years.

And in turn the fundies break away and form their own little gaggle of haters and end-of-the-world nutbags. Perkins can squawk all he wants, but he is nowhere close to real power if the corporate GOP opposes his ilk's forward movement in the party.

If the GOP sticks with the fundie nutbags, they are done for. And if the fundie nutbags try to broker a deal with the corporatists, it's likely to fall on very deaf ears.

The Republican Party, in the wake of an Obama win on Nov. 4th, is a party in broken bits. All the King's horses, etc.

9. The lunatic fringe of the Republican party is quickly making itself irrelevant
Good riddance. I'd rather deal with the fiscal conservatives any day of the week. At least they pretend to the limited version of action they call rationality. These fuckwits run by the Perkins and Bachmann's of the world are just loopy freaks with no compass at all.
