1. I've been saying for a while that TN would be close
We're trending blue and the signs on the ground show it. We have a Democratic Governor now and it wasn't that long ago when we were a blue state.

We may not win the state, but to think McCain's going to run away with it is just foolishness. Our registration efforts have been nothing short of amazing.

7. Voter fraud or election fraud?
Voter fraud is when a voter willfully votes multiple times and the like.

Election fraud is when the powers that be (or machines that count) conspire to keep voters from voting or having their vote count.

5. That's the general feeling of things here in my end of the state
I'm in a traditionally "red" area of the state, but we've been hearing from people that we've talked to canvassing, calling, and even some that have come by our offices that they weren't happy with either candidate and weren't even going to vote - or if they were, they were going to just vote on the other offices on the ballot.

We've even had a few Republicans come into the Democratic headquarters just to find out about Obama and his plans - not because they were going to vote for him, but because they wanted to know what they could expect because they didn't really believe all the dirt being slung at him. I think a couple of these may actually end up voting for Obama, based on our conversations.

Now do I think its going to be enough to carry the state? No, probably not. But the biggest thing is that we are working on turning out the vote while the Republicans are too busy trying to suppress Democrats at the polls rather than getting their own people out. It's just as some in the media have said, McCain has no ground game aside from his suppression efforts.

I think Tennessee could be within 5 points on election night if what we are seeing on the ground holds true. If the turn-out in Memphis, Nashville, and Chattanooga continues to hold a strong Obama advantage and the turn-out in Knoxville and the Tri-Cities is heavy enough to put a dent in the fundamentalist vote - it could get very, very interesting November 4th.

6. I want a blue Tennessee very badly
I think we'll be the next North Carolina in 2012. It's going to take time and a lot of effort, but I think its immanently achievable, especially if Obama has a very good first term if he is elected.

It's just that we have such a large amount of low-info voters and fundamentalists, it makes making gains difficult. Geographically, the east end of the state is now starting to change its demographics quite a bit, as new growth and business (especially in the medical field) is bringing a whole new breath of fresh air and is starting to put a dent into the "senior fundamentalist" or the "i've always voted Republican" vote.

It will happen. There's too many good people here that are working too hard for it not to.

10. I hope you are right
I have relatives in Tennessee. The person I know lives near Knoxville - not far from where the church incident happened. It takes about all of the self-control I have to carry on any sort of a conversation with her.

However, I have noted that she now refers to Black people as "African Americans". I guess that is some progress considering other names I've heard in the past spew from her mouth. :puke:

:kick: for a BLUE TENNESSEE!

11. I live in the East and I can tell you it's more low-info voters as a
result of the non-stop right-wing radio we have over here.

We have virtually no news choices. One station is rightwing local host, Boortz, Rush, rightwing local host, Hannity.

The other station is moderate host, silly programing for hours and hours, rightwing local hosts (Lee and Terry Frank, who are well-known on this board) and then the therapist woman.

What's a liberal to listen to on their commute home?

BTW, it's worth mentioning here that Harold Ford Jr. got within 3 percentage points of Corker in Tennessee two years ago, which fit the polls exactly. That proves that Tennessee is a least moving in the blue direction.

14. Hello neighbor and you are right
But things are hopeful and the times they are a' changing!

If Harold Ford, Jr. can be within 3 points of Corker, then things are happening - especially since Ford gave us really no indication he was that much different than Corker! If Obama can be within 5 points on election night, I'm going to be ecstatic. From all that I've seen, it could very well happen and that gives me hope for 2012 - when Corkers seat will be up and we'll hopefully be voting a second time for Obama!
