Where there's a will, there's certainly a way to make voting machines practically fool-proof. But we're the fools for not having something along the lines of a Boston tea party, with the "tea" being of much greater weight this time around.

I will NEVER certify an election on black box machines. I will work with the head of the Board of Elections to develop a reliable, verifiable, method for the official count, but I will NEVER certify electronic results from Diebold or AVS machines.

Now, seriously, as a former banker, I have asked people whether they would make a cash deposit at an ATM if the machine gave them no receipt and there was no paper record of the transaction. And of course, they looked at me like I was stupid. So I then asked, "THEN WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT WITH YOUR VOTE???"

all excellent points. VOting machines should use all the best processes and technologies as can be found in slot machines and ATM machines. It just makes total sense.
