Tinklenberg goes shopping for TV ad time with anti-Bachmann windfall.
By Chris Steller 10/20/08 12:14 PM
We wondered: After Michele Bachmann’s MSNBC meltdown the other day, would Elwyn Tinklenberg have trouble finding local TV ad time available for purchase this late in the game?

snip

I caught up with Tinklenberg campaign spokesperson John Wodele by phone on Monday morning while he was at WCCO-TV buying $182,000 of ads to be broadcast through Nov. 4. Yes, WCCO had ad time to sell, he said — “but it wasn’t always at the lowest rate.” (Aren’t political candidates supposed to receive the lowest rates? “It’s complicated,” Wodele said.) Wodele, a media consultant by trade who said he isn’t usually the one to buy media, was confident the Tinklenberg campaign would be able to buy what it needs, and he promised, “We’re going to increase this substantially over the next 24–48 hours.” He called such lavish outlays for TV a “luxury” the campaign hasn’t been able to afford — until now.

from Hardball in the media ad.... Nothing like coming from the horses mouth to ring loud and clear.

3. They need to do across the board media buys - TV, Radio. Print
Not just tv....some don't watch or have time. Radio is good to reach people on way to work and back.

10. They need to use that footage of Bachmann in an ad.
Priceless.

11. I agree
And if they can't use the footage, quote it verbatim. Bachmann's denial today of the anti-american quote is just a little extra topping that should be included.

And please, an ad featuring the kiss. McCain may vote with Shrub 90% of the time, but that lip lock says a lot. It may even turn off a supporter or two.

I hope they have some good ad producers working overtime on this.
