I just watched a half hour of Fox & Friends
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 06:30 AM by underpants
6:30-7:00

NO mention of Colin Powell. They did have footage of him as a tease on "What does this mean for Iraq?" and had a Fox News regular on the talk about his book. Basically he said that nothing will change regardless of who wins the election in regards to the on-going drawdown of forces.

The entire 30 minutes is nothing but tease and no actual reporting on any topic

The lead in was a report on Obama's tax plan (that they never got to) with "Is his plan socialist?" both on the screen and said by one of the hosts.

The NYT "hit job" on Cindy McCain. The hosts discussed how outrageous it was that the reporter was "trolling around on Facebook". She was looking for kids who went to school with the McCain's adopted daughter to see if they could put her, the reporter, in contact with their parents who may have a story about Cindy. No mention of anything in the "long report" that "went on and on" just that Facebook was involved.

Voter fraud-allegations allegations allegations. They did actually mention the California GOP official who got busted with a FAKE REGISTRATION
"Experts say" that food prices should stay high regardless of the lowered price of gas-that was it no explanation of why that would be. They basically told their viewers that they should just accept it.
Missing boy found in Virginia (good news)
Teens in Detroit charged with after school shooting

IN the 7:00 timeslot they had a report from the NY Post about "well healed" New Yorkers using an address in Ohio to vote. They gave the street address of the house where 9 people are registered and HAVE VOTED. The female cohosts said this "Think of the ramifications (looks to cohost) I mean think about that I (looks to other cohost) I don't even know what the ramifications COULD BE!!!". They think that since these people voted in the primary in NY they shouldn't be allowed to vote in the General Election in Ohio. There are "questions" if these people met the requirements (residency for a month) in Ohio.

Ooooh they are talking about Colin Powell now
The Pundit Pit
Georgette Mosbacher (YIKES!) questions the timing (they seemed to think this was going to happen back at the convention) and said that the endorsement of Joe the Plumber is more important. A former communications person for Corzine said that this was important especially in Virginia and North Carolina with a story military presence. Mosbacher interrupted to question Powell's stature given what he did at the UN and called him an "elitist"...Mosbacher said this. Rich Lowry-editor of the National Review- was determined to be "the tie breaker", Lowry said that Powell's reasoning was "incoherent".

2. "New York 'SLIMES" Old gray lady takes a hit out on Cindy"
that was the banner while "The Pundit Pit" discussed the article on Cindy McCain.

6. Second that...I tried to listen to Hannity on talk radio this weekend...
until he put a liberal listener ON HOLD while he ranted his RW BS and then brought the guy back....the caller asked why he did that and Hannity said it was so he could get his point across w/o interruptions...but then continued to INTERRUPT the caller until he finally HUNG UP on him...

Now THAT'S fair and imbalanced!!!! NOT!

4. What a patriot you are! Thank you for doing this....
I'd love to see an M$M summary each morning, as you did here, underpants.

I'm always interested what is being spewed to the masses. I tend to catch bits and pieces of GMA as I try to get morning deadline work done.

From what I've seen thus far, they are talking about Powell and Bradley effect but I've caught very, very little this morning.

Thanks again!

5. Powell's reasoning was "incoherent"?? Now I *have* heard it all!
Powell's statements on MTP and afterwards were exemplars of clear, uncluttered common sense informed by deep thought. Common sense and deep thought will not be found on Fox News!

Here's an example of what Powell's "incoherence" has done to local Republicans:

Many supporters gathered for McCain's Westerville (Ohio) rally were surprised and upset by news of Powell's endorsement. "I was very confused by it, and I thought that it was a mistake," said Linda Nikodem, 43, of Pataskala. "I always said that if (Powell) were running for president I would vote for him. I'm super-confused now."

Rachael Smith, 36, of Westerville, said, "It surprises me because, historically, (Powell) has been conservative, and, if you are conservative at your base on issues, I don't know what you would have in common with Obama politically." Steve Heilman, 50, of Gahanna, said Powell's endorsement might go back to differences he had with the Bush administration in areas of foreign policy. "I guess I'm not surprised because he had a little falling out with the Bush administration," Heilman said.

In his blog yesterday, conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh suggested Powell's endorsement was motivated by race, facetiously saying that he was searching for "all the inexperienced, very liberal, white candidates he has endorsed."

Attending the rally with his wife, Marvin Brady, 75, of Westerville, attributed Powell's support for Obama to race: "I feel like he's just going with color. If he went against his color, he would be scrutinized (by black Americans)."

What has poor Linda "super-confused" is the yawning gap between the unassailable logic and sense of Powell's remarks and the false impressions and lies she has been fed daily by Fox News and right-wing hate radio. What to do? What to do?

11. It didn't make sense what Powell said
no need for viewers to find out what he said, their TV told them it was "incoherent"

7. Thanks for the report from ground zero
I cannot watch that bimbo and her cohorts. Steve Douchebag makes me want to slit my arteries in my wrists and the blatant tilt of the broadcast is laughable and so very, very desperate. The fact that I have family that watches this shit everyday makes me embarassed to share the same name.

10. I wish someone did this every day so I could know what they're saying without the pain of watching.
I worry about all the people out there who only get their news from Fox. I read recently that Fox News was the most watched cable tv channel, period. That doesn't bode well for democracy.

I record tall the major news shows after the debates and it was fun last week watching Fox lambast McCain Wed. night for not doing what they deemed to be a good job.

Funny stuff.
