who here agrees that most of the idiots yelling "Socialist"
who here agrees that most of the idiot asshats yelling "Socialist" at Barack Obama don't even know what the word really means. They are just using it as a spoonfed and convenient epithet because they can't use the words in public that they are truly thinking.

:puke:

who benefit the most from socialist entitlements.

5. It is amazing what hatred can do ...
It can make men and women vote against their own interest ...

The GOP has been doing that for decades ....

4. Well sure, that's obvious..

...but it's still wise to explain and remind people that they HAVE been screwed by the wealthy class, especially over the last 8 years. People know the truth deep down, but I think it needs to be framed in a way that highlights the American ideal of FAIRNESS.

Words like "socialism" lose their sting when people are really hurting.

6. Anything to keep from being at the bottom
That's all it's about. They have to have somebody to demean or they'd have to deal with failing in a country where they had every advantage and it wasn't enough.

7. Exactly.
If someone were to decribe the beliefs of socialists to them without using the word, they would most likely be in agreement. They think it is equivalent to "Godless Communism."

This fundie kid once said something to me to the effect that Socialism was the same thing as Atheism. I said: "Actually, it is the belief that the people should own the means of production." He stared at me blankly.

8. They think they have something called wealth, when, in fact, what they have is
0s and 1s manipulated by PRIVATE computers and FORCED on the public.

They think their "wealth" is going to be re-distributed to "lazy people". This what they think Socialism is.

Someone needs to tell them that Socialism is the recognition that the group/nation

OWES

each and ever one of its members something of REAL VALUE in exchange for the REAL VALUE that each member of the group brings to the group.

10. They're clueless. Jesus was socialist and many are Xtian zealots
who are mislead by the current politico-church movement. We MUST stop the tax-breaks to these quasi-religious organizations who inject their lunacy into our reality.

If we had a true socialist nominee there would be cause for true hope because pro-business government has driven America over the cliff.

I blame the media traitors who con folks into thinking a soft corporatist is too liberal. Con us into saying the ame damn media is too liberal. And that's why chickens vote for Colonel Sanders.

11. doubtful
I really doubt they know what the word "socialist" means, if they did they would recognize the buyout/bailout of Wall Street and the Banking industry as socialism. In fact the health care that Congress and the Military have enjoyed lo these many years is also socialism. The ignorance is really sad. Powell was right when he said the first priority of the next president had to be education.

12. Here is my stock reply now to that. I used it last night on youtube
"McCain is a Communist. Movement Conservatism's roots go back to the former Communists who became authoritarian Republicans. Your whole philosophy is made up by Commies. That's probably why he vehemently supported the policies that created the nationalization of our banks and almost all of our insurance industries. Republicans spent all this time hating on Commies when they're the biggest ones of all. Self-loathing is a terrible thing, comrade. Just ask Clarence Thomas, Larry Craig and Ted Haggard."

14. Because wanting non-mandated universal health care
and a shift in the tax burden more toward the wealthy guarantees that life in America will soon become identical to that of Stalin's USSR. Obviously.

Oh yeah, and he's black. Therefore he will whore welfare and "the blacks will take over."

22. I *am* socialist
a proud member of the Vermont Progressive Party, at that, in fact a former member of the Burlington city committee.

A) They have no clue what a socialist is,

B) I wish Obama was a socialist. But he most certainly isn't.

21. No, they are completly clueless
You ask them to define what a socialist, communist, fascist, different terms they use at different times, is and most of what you get is blank stares or some will kind of huff and go, "well everybody knows what that is", which means they haven't got a clue.

It's kind of like asking Sarah Palin what other Supreme Court cases she agrees with or disagrees with besides Roe v. Wade.

poor and working class people to mindlessly fall in line with the wealthiest upperclass rightwingers boggles my mind.

Across the board it's as if being an unhinged dumbass has become some sort of badge of honor for the right.
