Joe the Plumber is a greedy fat bastard!
I'm sitting here watching the McLaughlin Group and I've had it up to here! OMG are the republicans greedy, we can't have a little redistribution of wealth in this country, it will destroy the American Dream. If we take even a little of Joe the Plumbers profit off the top then we are preventing him from buying a new truck or investing his wealth and becoming wealthier and creating more jobs (for unlicensed cheap plumbing labor). Whine, Whine, Whine about redistribution of wealth and "oppressive tax polices". This all according to Monica Crowely, Pat Buchannan and the other shill, Michell Bernard, dare I say it, an African American Woman from the Independent Woman's Forum (sounds republican to me). Poor Eleanor Clift, left alone to try and be a voice of reason. Good thing I only watch waiting for Bill Moyers Jornal and NOW.

EXCUSE ME, BUT WE JUST LIVED TROUGH EIGHT YEARS OF REDISTRIBUTION OF INCOME FROM THE MIDDLE CLASS TO THE RICH. And BTW fuck the poor. I'm so tired of it, the greed on wall street, the greed of those that have, GREED GREED GREED. I'm not a religious person, but this is really the deadliest sin. How much money does any one person need? If we don't all start to live more simply, well then we are all doomed. My kids and grandkids are doomed. I'm disgusted to say it even has infected my sister-in-law who lives on a collective farm (what we used to call a commune) was complaining her 3200 square foot newly build home was "a little small", and they don't even have children.

I try to be better (or is it bitter, I forget), we drive cars with over 150000 miles on it, we live in the same house I grew up in, we recycle, we save what we can, we give what we can. But, I buy my lotto tickets and dream of being rich, of being able to give my kids the best of everything, of being able to afford to make my old home energy efficient, of being able to give more, of buying a hybrid car, of traveling somewhere outside the US, of a thousand other things I perceive the rich being able to do with no worries. Does this make me a greedy pig too? I'm sitting here contemplating buying my son a $500 bike, to bribe him with material things into swimming his senior year (why, because he has an excellent chance to make an all-American time and possible get a scholarship), but he has senoritus and just wants to coast this year. But, what greedy fucking materialistic message does that send him? Sorry, injecting some personal family stuff, OT.

I wasn't Obama's biggest fan in the primaries (some of you at DU slammed me pretty hard for that, but I forgive and forget), but he chose Biden as his running mate and he just killed in the debates (thank you Hillary), and I'm sold 100%. His comment to Joe the Plumber was that by giving a little to those less successful than you benefits all of us, you know "a rising tide lifts all boats". Oh, and isn't that what Jesus would do? Oh yea, I forgot, its fuck the poor and fuck the middle class. But, you know the republicans scream socialism. WTF is wrong with socialism anyway, didn't any republicans ever watch Star Trek? If I had my way money wouldn't exist and we would do all things for the good of common collective, there I said it I'm a socialist and proud of it. Maybe I need a little statue of Karl Marx to go with my Buddha statue.

1. Rethugs want to keep the middle class down.
They don't want to help us because it would mean that their buddies and campaign contributors won't get fat and rich. The so-called "socialism" worked in the 1990's when Bill Clinton raised taxes on the very wealthy and redistributed it to everyone else. We only ended up with more jobs then under Reagan and a balanced budget on top of it. Funny but under trickle down economics (called Voodoo economics for a good reason) we ended up with a poorer middle class and a huge deficit. Anyone who looks close enough can tell you which was is better.

4. Thumbs Up Susan!
I totally agree with you, but you HAVE TO stop watching the McLaughlin Group. It is very unhealthy.

We all have to live in society and what benefits society, benefits everyone. Prosperity and education are good for us all. Poverty breeds fear and crime which eventually threatens the ultra wealthy as well as the poor and middle class. Oh when will people learn? We've been through this shit before and we keep repeating history. The Robber Barons are back!

8. As if the bank bailout wasn't a re-distribution of wealth
As if we don't already have socialism (well, fascism, but that's another rant)

Great rant - I've stopped watching McLaughlin because of that Crowley woman - used to be a discussion of the issues, not it's her shrill recitation of the talking points. Plus Eleanor always gets cut off.

And the Independent Womens Forum IS a bunch of libertarian and rightwing tools - it was started as an "answer" to NOW - last week, Terry Gross interviewed a feminist who wrote a book about them

11. The greed & selfishness in this country is mind boggling!
When do these people have enough? How do they look themselves in the mirror knowing that so many go without while they wallow in their wealth. How do they spend so much on frivoulous crap knowing that millions of American families go to bed hungry at night? What has happened to their humanity?

I've heard people say that you shouldn't lose a relationship with someone over politics, but a person's politics reflects their world view. To me, the repub world view is fearful. Fear those who are different than them, fear that someone may get something that they didn't get, fear that they can't compete in a changing world. Fear, fear, fear. All that fear makes them mean or resentful or both.

If you find a Marx statue, get one for me, would you? ;)

12. Joe the Taxi Driver...
Martin Scorcese called. He wants his movie back.

It gives me the creeps to see shaved head Joe in that video next to Obama. I thought the reference to tap dancing and Sammy Davis Jr. was kind of Archie Bunker a la Scorcese.

One thing I will say is that Joe does seem like a good example of what can happen to the little guy in this country. Wrong/stupid financial moves at every turn. Resentment stoked by Republican propaganda...
