I am sure it's around but I think it's so minimal, any kind of prejudice will have very little impact on the race here. I think most Western states are like New Mexico other than maybe some old school Mormons in Utah. I do remember an instance when I was in 1st Grade about 35 years ago when the Principal grabbed the only black kid in the school and dragged him down the hall. He always seemed to be picking on that poor kid and I remember my Mom saying she thought he was prejudice.

Personally I think there was more prejudice against John Kerry looking French than Obama being black around here though I am sure in parts of the country prejudices run deep. I think Obama is much, much more likable than John Kerry and John McCain which will over ride any small % of prejudice people at least around here.

What are things like where you live?

1. Kerry being "French"
is just another way for white supremacists to ridicule those "others" who will take their money and give it to the "blankety blanks".

4. I live in Montana.
I can only recall the 'N' word being used in a derogatory manner twice during the twenty-four years in which I have lived here. One of those times was about two days ago, it was from a guy who was proudly proclaiming to be from Alabama. He was referring to our Native American population. The first time I heard it, I was just a kid, I don't remember the context, but I do remember being surprised.
