Is this the most disgusting gutter campaign
in recent history? I'm 59 but, I don't remember another campaign being this ugly. This robo calling, character assasination, racist bullshit is so over the top and it's getting worse day by day. What can be done to stop this?

1. Well, I don't think much.
Obama is a public figure, so the normal rules that apply to private citizens don't apply to his campaign or McCain's for that matter. So, while you or I might be able to sue the pants off of McCain had he pulled this shit with us for slander and/or defamation of character, it's all's fair game if you're a public figure.

5. They're becoming more and more desperate
sort of like cornered animals. Their claws are out and the fangs are bared. They are ugly, ugly, ugly, preying upon the insecurities and prejudices of the less informed electorate.

2. It's pretty bad but when Bradley first ran for LA may blacks were hired to drive thru white neighbo
neighborhoods yelling "black power". Bradley lost the first round, then won and served as LA mayor for 20 years.

6. Worse than the swiftboating of Kerry?
Worse than McCain's 'nigger baby' in 2000?
I dunno.
But it's pretty bad on McCain's aprt.
I'm proud of the campaign Obama's running.

8. I think it's worse
in view of 9/11 and trying to tie Obama to terrorists.

10. Well, what do you mean by worse?
If you mean from the standpoint of the ferocity and unseemliness of the attacks, then yes, this is a hell of a lot worse than the swiftboating of Kerry. It's directly proportional to the desperation.

On the other hand, it's effects are nearly insignificant by comparison to the effect swiftboating had on Kerry. Kerry should have been a little more quick to retort. Obama, apparently, took that lesson and ran with it. He isn't letting McCain get away with a thing.

7. Same campaign they've been running for decades
It's just that many Democrats are finally recognizing the dog whistling and race baiting for what it's always been. But if you look at the tactics, it's just the same plays from their fear and smear book.
