1. Why not?
He has big momentum, he's going to win big nationwide, and a big turn-out will kick McConnell out of office.

Extending the coat tails. The McCain/RNC retreat from Michigan and Wisconsin, coupled with their lack of money, frees up Obama to campaign and buy ads in states where, even though he might not win the EV, he can seriously extend his coat tails to down ticket races.

12. It's gotta be McConnell. He doesn't need Kentucky.
I would focus on Ohio. But of course, that's right next door. The psychology may help in southern Ohio.

Hey, the guy and his team know what they are doing. That's for sure, and I admit it.

2. Why not?
If West Virginia is suddenly in play, why not make McKKKlan work hard for his red states?!

5. No.
Obama won't win KY. It's to encourage turnout so that McConnell goes down.

18. My post didn't say he was going to win it.
I said that he would make McKKKlan "work hard for his red states" in terms of forcing him to spend money if he thinks that this state would go into play, and that pulls money from other places. This is not in conflict with any Senate/Congressional races needing turnout and that Senate seat would definitely be a bonus.

7. I think we're seeing "reverse" coattails...
The strength of our Senate candidates is putting KY, NC, GA etc. in play on the Presidential level.

17. I don't think that's the case in NC. I think Obama has coattails for Hagan.
I don't know the other states well enough to say.

16. Kinda like West Virginia or North Carolina, huh?
Or North Dakota. Sure, there's no way Obama can win in North Dakota.

Also, there's no way the Dow is gonna drop below 9000. No way.

10. Mu. Ha. Ha. McCain's trap to get Obama "right where he wants him."
Obama's overconfidence obviously will be his undoing. This, no doubt, is right where McCain pours it on in the so-called swing states. :eyes:

20. He's nuts
I love that he has expanded the playing field, and I am proud to have said a year and a half ago that Indiana could be competitive when most people thought I was nuts. But spending time and resources on West Virginia and Kentucky is just insane...I went to West Virginia for him in the primaries and I could tell there was no way he could even win the primary there. People were hostile to him and believed all the rumors and did not seem the least bit open to even considering him. If he were far ahead 3 months before the election this might make sense but he has to close the deal in a bunch of places, especially Ohio...despite the surge in the polls he doesn't have a solid lead in Ohio. If he can't win Ohio I don't see how he has a chance in West Virginia or Kentucky, which are basically like the most Republican parts of Ohio and unlike Ohio have very small minority populations.

32. I wasn't wrong about Indiana
I said a year and a half ago that Democrats should contest it. And I knew he would get his ass kicked in the WV primary and I was right.

assure the people of Kentucky and the rest of the country that; he will be the President of all the people and their concerns and needs are important. Plain & simple. ( and , what great visuals:) )
No red states no blue states, just the United States.

This man and his campaign are brilliant.

25. Obama doesn't write off a state - that's why it's called 50 state strategy
If his time and effort spent there gives even one down ballot Democrat a chance then it's worth it.
