I was just thinking about how these two subjects are related. I mean, how could someone like McCain have come around to condone torture? Well, apparently it has to do with the definition as per John Yoo, right, about how as long as their life isn't in danger, it's not technically torture?
Well, his air quotes tonight about pregancy termination in the case of danger to the mother's "health" is actually the same sort of thing.
So a woman who's (mere) "health" is jeopardized by the pregnancy is not important, in the same way that that it's OK to torture someone as long as they don't actually die.
So there's life and there's death, but quality of life just doesn't really matter all that much. I guess that very succinctly sums up the Republican view of (other people's) lives.
That's a helluva low bar for a supposedly civilized society isn't it?
