Keith on Countdown just reminded viewers that Truman, Reagan, and Bush were ALL behind in early Oct!
And they ALL won.

In other words, we can't assume for a second this thing is in the bag.

Do I think Obama will win? Yes. Do I think it is possible he could still lose? Yes.

Will I work like hell as if he is 10 points behind? Absolutely!!!

I'm an optimist, but I dare not get complacent. Nor should we.

peace~:)

6. How about over-confident?
I'll stand corrected on the complacent part. Your right, I doubt folks who choose to chill on DU are complacent. Lets just say I hope folks don't assume it's over.

7. The 15th officially qualifies as mid-October, doesn't it?
I'm not saying we should relax, I'm just saying we should not be crapping our trousers with fear, either.

15. Agreed this isn't in the bag yet, Obama could still potentially blow it at the debate
I'm not saying that he will blow it, I'm just saying that McCain could end up getting a well needed boost from the debate that makes this race much more competitive again, or worse, that shoots him into the lead. That's why I'm nervous as hell right now waiting for the debate to start, McCain's going to go all out to try to turn things around tonight.

And even if Obama leaves the debate a winner, just remember how 'certain' everyone was that Dewey had it in the bag going into election day, when Truman won despite all pundits saying it was hopeless for him.

This election's not in the bag till all the votes are counted and Obama reaches the 270 electoral vote mark on election night.

17. The Truman "comeback" was because the last and final poll saw Dewey significantly ahead of Truman
at the beginning of October.

However, what wasn't known until later was how Truman was gradually making inroads throughout the month of October. Truman's own internal polling showed he was about even with Dewey at the end of October, but there were no published national polls.

So, has McCain gained or lost ground in the last two weeks?

The comparison to Truman doesn't fly.

18. Technically - Bush lost. Regan did very very well during his debates.
He looked straight at the camera and spoke to the audience most of the time and had a couple of zingers that the sheeple just loved.

Don't count on mcLame doing as well - but I would like to see Obama do more speaking to the camera.

Have no idea how Truman won.
