Palin: "Sir, I don't know what you're saying, but if you're protesting, that's cool, too"

http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5h21ZbzgPbTVRftcJPT5vkHkonY5QD93R2JVG0

<snip>

After her Dover speech, Palin went outside to speak briefly to a crowd of people who couldn't get into to the gymnasium. Holding a microphone in one hand and her son Trig in the other, she addressed someone who appeared to be heckling her.

"Sir, I don't know what you're saying, but if you're protesting, that's cool, too," she said. "My son's over in Iraq fighting for your right to protest."

Cheering fans by far outnumbered Palin's critics, but several protesters stood outside the school. One sign read: "Welcome to New Hampshire. Abuse is offensive. So are you."

"My son's over in Iraq fighting for your right to protest." - never heard her use that line before :sarcasm:

13. Yes, and the last I looked our Right to Free Speech is "given" by the Constitution.
Yes, the military may DEFEND it, but they didn't "give" us the right to protest.

27. Scarborough is probably suffering from some sort of alcohol withdrawal
which accounts for his delusional ramblings on his show.

I was actually able to tolerate the guy up through the Democratic convention. Even since David Schuster slapped Joe down during the convention though Joe's been a major tool and a half.

7. I've heard it, and it's WRONG!
The Constitution says this is a right we are all born with... you know, one of those inalienable rights... someone should send Ms. P a copy of the Constitution. I have a little pocket book version that is darn handy, you betcha;)

20. To be Completely Fair,
I heard J Krishnamurti do something similar when he spoke at the Kennedy Center in the mid-80s.

He was over 90 years old, was unmiked, and spoke very faintly. Nobody, and I mean nobody, could hear anything he was saying. The staff must have been too timid to correct the situation, because it went on for over 15 minutes, at which point a women stood up in the crowd and repeatedly yelled "Speak Up"! Krishnamurti obviously had no idea what she was saying, because he immediately went into Asian religious teacher mode: "The woman has a question. Why does she have a question.....?"

It was strangely comical and a little disillusioning. Not to compare Palin to a UN Peace Medal Winner, but it's about the last thing on the list I would deride her for.

23. No Sarah - my freedom is not threatened by Iraq
but it sure is more threatened by you and your damn Repuke party!

Damn I hate that friggin' talking point. There hasn't been a war for nearly 70 years that threatened our freedom and even WWII while I have no problem with US involvement didn't directly threaten the U.S. mainland!

26. The last time anyone died specifically for OUR freedom was WWII.
Who still buys this "they're fighting for OUR freedom" crap?!
Ever since WWII it has been one bullshit war after another. The Korean's weren't a threat to our freedom and thousands died fighting that bullshit. The Vietnamese certainly weren't a threat to the US even after they WON that war and hundreds of thousands more had died. Now we know the Iraqis weren't a threat to anyone and while what little threat was claimed turned out to be completely fabricated.
