Palin excluded African Americans: from The Nation
<snip>

"Gwen Alexander, the president of the African-American Historical Society of Alaska, told me that Palin stated defiantly that she had no intention to hire any minority staffers.

And according to Bishop Dave Thomas, senior pastor of Anchorage-based African-American church Jesus Holy Temple, the Palin administration excluded black business owners from the Alaskan oil and gas pipeline board. "We wasn't even able or allowed to go into the meetings" to seek contracts for the pipeline, Thomas told me. "

4. actually, there isnt much of a story here. this is taking teh "race" bait imo
Edited on Tue Oct-14-08 08:46 AM by Essene
i suspect the perceived hostility is due to her insensitivity, not an outright position that she wouldnt hire blacks.

she has insulted alaskan blacks, moreso than done anything particularly racist.

9. she hates blacks. that was clear for a long time. she won't have
them around and everytime someone asked her about why she didn't have them in the admin, she said she would NOT hire them.

6. She has no intentions of representing African Americans either
Considering she only refers to people as "Joe-Six-Pack" and "Hockey Moms".
I don't believe her references are directed at African Americans.

7. she also refused to even send an aide to represent her office
to the Juneteenth (is that right?) annual occasion. She refused to appoint an Alaskan native to the gaming board even after much protest-- in fact, just last night, the person she did appoint quit saying a native should have that job.

Methinks there is some prejudice in this woman...not that it needs to be an issue. But let's not excuse clear and present behavior which has been WRONG toward minorities.

10. A black woman won Miss Alaska instead of her.
She is petty enough for this to be the reason she is vindictive toward blacks.
