At a time when some Hillary Clinton loyalists would rather stick a flag pin in their eye than rally behind Barack Obama -- but are doing so anyway because of the larger goal of taking back the White House -- Mahoney can't bring himself to back the party's first African-American nominee.

5. If I recall from Foley scandal news, Mahoney had changed from R to D so he could

run. Foley was an incumbent shoo-in so no real Dem had been interested (booo...calling Dr. Dean and Rahm Emmanuel).

Mahoney, essentially a whacky nobody, became the beneficiary when the scandal made Foley toxic.
