The thought of another nail biter is making me really anxious.

3. most electoral maps on news sites already have Obama at 264, so the last 6 ev's shouldnt take long
I'm predicting a call shortly after the polls close in the central and/or mountain time zones (8-9PM est).

5. Here's how you'll know
IF they call Virginia for Obama, it's over.

If the above happenes and they call North Carolina for Obama, it's a blowout.

If the above happens and they call Missouri for Obama, it's a landslide.

7. If any Bush state other than IA and NM is called for Obama it is over.
Edited on Mon Oct-13-08 02:31 PM by Schulzz
A win in VA, NC, FL, OH, CO, NV, MO, IN,WV, GA would end McCain's chances.

14. yep, McCain must win EVERY SINGLE ONE of those states to win.
Not even old superstitious cautious me sees that happening. :)

8. right now, today, Obama would win with 346 EVs...
...even if you gave MO to McCain, which at the moment is tied. And even if you did NOT count the "barely" blue states, which that 346 includes (OH, CO, NV, FL, WV, ND), he still has 277 EVs, and I think the closest states in that 277 group are over 5% (I'm NOT counting WV in that 277 - at the moment a poll has Obama up 8%, but I won't believe that until I see a confirming poll, LOL). I find it very hard to believe McCain can win ALL of those "barely" states, which he must to win, plus those he's barely leading in, like NC & IN.

I'm not over-confident, but every extremity that can be crossed IS.

9. I suppose it could depend on when/how they count the early votes, etc.
absentee votes, early votes, provisional, etc. I could see how things like that could keep the results questionable for a bit, but I am not sure.

11. Now is not the time to think about that.
Now is the time to organize. If you're in a very red or very blue state, volunteer for phone banking.

15. Even if there isn't, people will be more patient
since more of them know what happened in 2004.

www.stealbackyourvote.com for urgent measures to do our best to combat the fraud.

www.stealingamericathemovie.com for a great calm documentary. "Stealing America: Vote by Vote" that reviews Republican manipulation of recent elections, and has some historical info as well.

16. Obama will clinch it when California is called
It will only take that long because California is on the west coast and is so big that, barring an ENORMOUS landslide, Obama will need it to hit 270. However, most will acknowledge the race to be effectively over when Florida and Virginia go blue early in the night.

17. Funny how we used to hear that either Ohio or Florida were required to tie up the EV's
This time around, Obama can win without either.

If he does win either OH or FL (or both!!), it won't just be a win, it will be an utter blowout.
