This is a Defining Week for the Election
I know about the reports of Kerry doing well in the Exit Polls and some on DU thought Kerry won in 2004. But this is not 2004, and the dynamics this year are different. We were afraid to attack four years ago and do it much easily and quicker now (though we can still master this a lot better). The economy is the top issue and McCain is weakest in that category. There are a ton of reasons, but also, the last debate is this week. And even though the MSM has tried to spin those debates as ties...it is clear the PEOPLE (you know, those who will be voting) thought Obama won and that I think has stabilized his position in the polls.

This is McCain's last chance really to alter the route this election is going. Nothing else happens until election day. Outside of the news that the MSM creates. If Obama can make it out of this week, as he has the past 3 weeks or so...I think he'll be fine. McCain has practically LOST independents with his pseudo Klan rallies and Palin has worn out her welcome. Only the fringe Right like her now. The last 2 weeks are basically when everything falls into place. Obama should work on solidifying his lead, and McCain will have to come up with some drastic idea. The only problem is, his campaign seems to be out of them. They know they crossed a line playing with race, which is why they've backed off. The Rethugs are trying to tar John Lewis, but I don't think anybody is really going to buy it after days of talking about how much race-baiting the McCain campaign was doing. That's all a distraction though, the people on the Right are losing their minds.

1. I don't understand your post..
You argue that this week is the defining week, but then go on to point out how, for many people, the election has already been defined.

4. I understand it. I see way more people breaking for Obama this wk
and it will become clear by Friday that there is no fight left in the Twin engine McCain/Palin plane. He will crash and burn once again.

Many of the undecided voters are taking their cues from prominent Republicans and others who are now putting it out there that they don't support McCain.

I see the poll results widening in many key states. The dumbfucks in Idaho and Utah will still vote for McCain in droves, but many states that have voted Republican will flop this election cycle.

2. I see your point, but the current crisis was manufactured. Still time to make another.
And also, it's not like the campaigns will shut up after the debate - or the corporate media.

3. I'm not so sure
Based on how the debates have gone so far, I expect McCain knows anything he tries this week will be washed up by his likely defeat on Wednesday. The debate results will hold over at least to the weekend and dominate the political discussion, with the only possible issue that could push through being more bad economic news. McCain might need to begin framing his campaign this week, but I believe the big push will occur next week. And it will be his absolute last chance. If McCain sees significant movement over that week he will know to push on over the final week with his new tactic and hope for the best. If however the trends continue, he will not have time to introduce any new measures and see if they are having the results he desires. In that event he would probably just take some passive default route for the final week. My money is on McCain regrouping this week and starting some new harsh character attack this coming weekend.
