Palin did it: She's making my mom vote for Obama. :o
Hell has frozen over.

Yesterday, Palin basically accused Obama of infanticide and my mother heard. She was Pissed. Off. My mom is probably the last person you would think of getting an abortion and is passed the child-bearing age, but she is a strong Pro-Choicer. If I had to choose what people she hates the most, I would have to say rabid pro-lifers. She has thought Palin was a fringe candidate and that has made her wary of voting for that ticket, though was mainly concerned who was running for the top spot. Now she is determined that Palin is not allowed anywhere near Washington.

Moral of the story: McCain f*cked up by going after the base and not choosing someone to court the Independents. Another vote for Obama in the Lone Star State!

(P.S.- Biden also helps. He is the only one any tickets she genuinely likes. An example of a good VP selection. ;))

7. yesterday my elderly neighbor left her garage door open and sat in her garage (has no cars)
its a secret sign that she wants me to bring my dog over and update on the race.

She is a registered Republican who tells me she is a Democrat (I have the registration records for the precinct) and started out several months ago very ambivalent about everyone. I started her on Edwards and around Christmas switched to Obama.

At that time the only news she watched was Fox, loved Hannity and O'Reilly.

Well day by day she has become more and more interested in Obama and then about two months ago she decided that she had nothing to be afraid of and has been all in for him. Palin made her sick.

The reason she wanted me to come over is that she wanted me to explain why O'Reilly is so hateful towards Obama - she hates Hannity now. I don't think that she will be watching FOX much anymore can't stand the hate.

I wonder how many people Fox is losing across the country.

9. I hope they're losing TONS of peeps! I stopped
watching faux in 1999 only having tuned in for a few weeks after not having owned a tv for years.

I could see through their bullshit fast and am so happy to hear of those who would become disenchanted of the faux hannity and o'lies.

That's a great personal story, grant:)

LOVE hearing these stories! A great antidote to the videos of hateful McCain supporters.

3. The VP pick really is the first important decision of a presidency..
and this is proof, anecdotal perhaps, but it's happening quite a bit. I think just about every politically active democrat can probably cite a similar experience for this election cycle.

10. I disagree, I think it's the campaign Manager
the VP is the first important public pick
but look at Mark Penn for Hillary
and Rick Davis for McLame
and David Axelrod for Obama

4. Absolutely awesome!
My husband, a life long GOP, decided the day McCain picked Palin that he could no longer vote for McCain. Yesterday, I heard him talking to his brother, another life long GOP, who lives in Dallas and guess what? He's voting for Obama because of Palin, too! This is REALLY big news in my family. REALLY BIG. Maybe if we can't turn Texas blue we can at least turn it light pink. :-)

And it's funny you mentioned Biden. My husband feels the same way. He says what he likes most about Biden is that he actually answers the questions he's asked unlike most politicians.

As I hear more and more of these stories I'm beginning to think there is a rather large movement like this that is being ignored by the MSM.

6. Encouraging story!
I hope your family, with Republicans and Dems in it, is typical... and that LOTS of split families like yours are coming around because of Palin.

I would be willing to bet it is happening all over. By the way, what state are you in?

8. My mom is volunteering this year.
She has never volunteered for any presidential candidate. She and my sister were out hammering in stakes for Obama road signs just the other day in their very rural, very red Georgia county. They got a lot of smiles, too. :-)

FWIW, Mom was a Hillary supporter, but she's now supporting Obama 110%.

15. I knew that Palin was ultra-smarmy but my jaw figuratively dropped to the floor when I heard her
say over CNN live streaming video yesterday, "and Obama would let babies born ALIVE die." :wow: :grr:
