Sunday morning at a local church...
Edited on Sun Oct-12-08 08:46 AM by nomaco-10

How many sermons will be preached extolling the virtues of love thy neighbor and throw in, no matter what color, race, creed or political party affiliation. How 'bout a good old fashion sermon on blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth, he doesn't promise to win the election. Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of god. Blessed are the merciful for they will be shown mercy.

It seems to me a pastor has his work cut out for him right now, and it also seems to me that this would be a good time to administer to some in his flock who may have lost their way and found themselves at a mccain/palin rally.

1. Do right wing Christians know about the
Sermon on the Mount? Hasn't that been expunged from their bibles?

2. It's hard to find Jesus in anything right-wing Christians say.
It isn't just the Sermon On the Mount they ignore, it's his entire life and teachings (throwing out the moneychangers, helping the poor, not a word about abortion or gay sex, etc., etc.).

These "Christians" have managed to completely remove Christ from their worldview. Making them, what, then? CINOs?

3. Leviticans.
Sounds like a good name for them. Most of the social conservative movement's talking points are from the old testament. You know, right next to the parts that say eating shellfish is an abomination and how to sell your daughter into slavery.

4. It's like with their fixation on bill ayers....
on something that happened nearly 40 years ago. The bible I was familiar with as a child, was all about redemption as well. They have him judged, damned and burning in "terrist" hell for eternity. Some way to interpret the teachings of jesus.

Leads me to think they have an awful minister or they don't pay much attention.
