Did any of you notice this in the last debate?
I was talking to my 90 year old mother in our weekly phone conversation and, as usual, we discussed the debate. My mom, a registered Republican, is an ardent Obama supporter, mainly because of how Obama has conducted himself in the debates. Today she brought up a point I hadn't noticed:

"When McCain talks, it's 'I will do this' and 'I will do that'. When Obama talks, it is how WE will work together to solve our problems. That's what it's going to take."

Thought this was a very good point, and wanted to share.

McCain/Palin don't want to "reach across the aisle" and work with the Democrats (or anybody who disagrees with them). Obama/Biden DO. It's really as simple as that.

4. I watched his speech on the span the other day.
And I counted more than 35 times he used the word "I". He is absolutely self involved and he dose not see the country as we the people. For McTroll it's more like, me the leader.

5. It's classic show vs. tell
McCain keeps applying for the job, stating what he thinks are his qualifications, while Obama simply acts presidential during the debates. The contrast is glaring

8. What WE have to realize is that the President cannot do anything by himself.
He needs us and a favorable relationship with Congress.

Hooray for Mom.

18. He's going to need our help too.
Even a Democratic congress can get stuck. We're going to have to keep on them with phone calls and emails. Obama needs us all the way!

9. Yes.
Also, a constant "I know how to do this" and "I know how to do that." He sounded like old Dick Nixon in 1968, saying he will be lots of things, without ever saying how.

14. Good observation
That was Bill Richardson's downfall. Everything was about how "I did this" and "I did that", and it was a real turnoff. When McCain does it, it almost sounds desperate, like an overlooked child trying to get attention - "Me, me! Over here!"

15. I noticed that in McCain's recent rallies on the stump.
He always tells that people that he needs their state's help to send him to the White House. Obama has always been a better visionary in his speeches.

That sort of behavior is reflected in how he treats his family as well.

22. Good call. I've noticed it in many of his speeches, but I didn't
notice it during the debate. Maybe because it is what I expect because it's such an integral part of his message.

I am so happy to hear your 90 year old life-long Republican mom is an ardent Obama supporter. So is my mother, who is 72 and an unapologetic registered Independent (no, Lou Dobbs doesn't fool her either). She's a Wellesley grad, too, which was interesting during the primaries.
