I visit this site everyday. I don't post much from it on DU because they keep it real and raw. But I had to pass this one along. . .LOL

27. I thought you basically got 800 just for showing up...
I had always heard there was a "minimum" SAT score basically, sign your name and get 800.

If that's the case... wowsers.

115. Not at that time. It was 400
200 for each test. They added a third test.

And you can score lower than that. Each question wrong results in a subtraction from the score. This is to prevent guessing from being a successful tactic.

68. the minimum is 400 - 200 on each section
They are normed for a mean of 500 on each section and standard deviation of 100 with 200 (-3 standard deviations) being the lowest and 800 (+3 standard deviations) being the highest

102. Originally, the average was 1000, with s.d. of 200.
(Actually 500 for each section, with s.d. of 100) Scores outside 3 sd were not reported; ie actual range was 200-800 for each section, so 400 was the minimum and 1000 the average.

50. Yes, she attended HS there
Yes, born in Idaho but she attended Wassila HS.

From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah_Palin

Palin attended Wasilla High School in Wasilla, located 44 miles (71 km) north of the city of Anchorage.<8> She was the head of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter at the school and the point guard and captain of the school's girls' basketball team. She helped the team win the Alaska small-school basketball championship in 1982, hitting a critical free throw in the last seconds of the game, despite having an ankle stress fracture. She earned the nickname "Sarah Barracuda" because of her intense play.<9[/div>

Know what an SAT score of 841 correlates to? An IQ of roughly 90.

And the IQ of 90... wasn't that Forrest Gump's IQ? That essentially makes Sarah Palin a feminine and detestable version of Forrest Gump, doesn't it? And ironically, Tom Hanks is an Obama supporter!

And it wouldn't even make a difference if you know, there was any evidence that Palin's scholarly pursuits or intellectual curiosity had improved over the years...just like the current newsweek article says, she celebrates this mediocrity and does not have a desire to rise above it. Great message to kids, huh.

but to get such poor grades at a rural high school...not good. How does one get a D in high school foreign language? I can understand getting a D in Physics. I can even understand getting a D in algebra. But a D in foreign language? And a C in social studies? That's not easy.

Just a little too many people here shouting "stupid" based on test scores alone. But thats probably based on the entire picture.

We might well have a few people here with lower scores that does not deserve such a label, though.

69. I agree. Scores are meaningless without context. Some people don't test well.
The SAT is not an IQ test. It tests a certain kind of knowledge and its known to be culturally biased. Also, anybody can have a bad day while taking a test. But the grades are shockingly low for somebody now in position to be president, especially in such a time of crisis.

84. In my experience, it's the last four that are most visible to the public.
For example, I was in my cell phone store buying a new phone, and saw my account information on the screen. My SSN appeared as XXX-XX-nnnn, so the last four digits of my SSN were visible to anyone within eye-shot of that screen. Kinda like credit card receipts, where the last four digits are the only ones not X'd out.

80. Here's why I think it could be fake...
Her SSN in the document starts with 574.

If she had been born and registered for a SSN in Alaska, that's what it would start with.

However, since she was born in Idaho and probably was registered there for her SSN, it should start with 518 or 519.

I suppose her parents could have waited until they moved to Alaska to register - how old was she when they moved?

95. OK...so they could have waited, I guess.
I'm not sure when it started to become standard practice to register for SSN's immedietly at birth. I know that my parents did that for me - and I was born in 1978.

However, my parents were not registered until they were toddlers almost - and they were born in 1953 & 1954.

BTW, I think you can get 841 by guessing every answer. Once in awhile you gotta guess right.

Could be faked. They used impact printers back then. Printed lines were never very straight, always had some up and down to them.

111. Okay....I can't stand her, but I think I only got about a 900 on my SAT....
And that was with a pretty damn good score on the English portion!

I was 18 when I took the test in 1973, a senior in high school with absolutely no respect for the "Establishment" (as The System was called back then) or any authority figure who tried to tell me what to do. I was angry at the "older generation" for their lies and hypocricy, so I squeaked by with the minimum in school. I was pissed off, argumentative and sarcastic to anyone over 30, so there weren't too many teachers inclined to give me grades above "C's" and "D's". Consequently, I didn't get into any university, wasted 6 months at community college, then took off for Europe where I lived till I was 23. Europe, the place where I received my real education!

Now, I know that Palin's choices were hella different from mine. I'm only pointing out you can't judge someone's intelligence by SATs or High School report cards--especially if they're over the age of 40. I still only have a high school diploma and a trade certificate in Travel and Tourism, as well as an average IQ somewhere around the range of 115. But I feel I can hold my own with anyone on most subjects. So please--I'm happy to dis Palin on her mediocrity, her unquestioning belief in Pentecostal fairy tales, her stupid beauty pagent answers to serious questions--and that's plenty to nail her with!

With her 2.2 GPA, she would have needed to score 100 points higher (940) to be eligible - that's according to current standards.

She is 100 points less qualified than the least qualified college athlete.

But there's no eligibility requirement for VP.

123. not necessarily
Social security numbers are based on where you live when you get your social security number. Today people get social security numbers right away for kids because they need it for tax reasons but this was not always the case. I'm just a couple years younger than Palin and I was about 10 when I finally got a social security number. In fact, my parents applied for all 5 of us kids at the same time. Four of us were born in Iowa and 1 in Illinois. Strangely, out of the 5 of us I'm the only one with a different first 3 numbers even though I was born in the same state as 3 other siblings and we all applied from the state of Illinois at the same time.

So, if this her SAT (and it should be close even if it isn't;), then her real score is:
