So much for putting the country first.

If McCain/Palin, Dumb/Dumber, The Apocalyptic Duo took office, world confidence in the U.S. would plummet. Without that confidence and foreign investment in this country we are screwed.

Forget describing this as the Great Depression, that will seem like the good old days.

4. I haven't seen us this divided since the worst of Vietnam
In fact, it may be worse now, and is getting worse by the day. McCain and Palin are rippping the country apart. Just listen to those crowds...think they'll ever accept Obama as President?

We are a divided nation
We are so far gone in the Red/Blue distinctions that there is no coming together. McCain isn't ripping the country apart any more than Obama is ripping the country apart. McCain advances a conservative agenda. Obama advances a liberal agenda. I don't see anyone being able to bring the country together because there are differing viewpoints on so many vital issues.

6. They are only tearing the 20% bottom feeders apart from the 80% who have a clue.
Maybe this needed to happen. These folks have been suppressed and flying under the radar and now the world is being treated to their ugliness, illustrating why they were caged and suppressed in the first place. Sadly the media is amplifying their cause by giving them exaggerated attention. But it does give us a gauge for how far the country has come in any case.

8. The Republicons demonstrated how much they really give a shit about 'Unity" in the aftermath of 911.
When it became apparent a few weeks after 911, how they defined "national unity": "We will do whatever we want, you will keep your mouths shut or be called out as an unamerican traitor." Their default authoritarian setting is to demonize any person or entity displaying the slightest whiff of political opposition. If they weren't willing or able to stop being assholes then, they never will be. Therefore, McCain is just doing what comes naturally for the modern day Bush GOP. They, and he, don't love America or the democratic ideals we were founded on. They're merely corporate executives who've undertaken a hostile takeover of a company, and they're not done driving it into the ground quite yet.

Most who've watched this thing unfold for the last 7 years have long since lost the capacity to be surprised by anything they do. Repulsed and horrified, yes, but never surprised. These are truly, morally repulsive people who run the modern day GOP; they would never have been able to field a candidate who had a shred of ethics or decency because only another moral degenerate would be willing to cooperate with their current tactics of bottomless deceit and dishonor. With his appeal to the most hateful, ignorant, bordeline personalities in the rightwing base, McCain is proving himself truly worthy of receiving Bush's crown and royal scepter.
