Someting troubling about chants of "terrorist," "kill him," and racism...
On a grand scale of this despicable behavior, I've sort of noticed that there is another layer that might even be, if not more despicable, equal to what is going on.

At these rallies, it has apparently been decided it is okay to to yell out the opponent is a "terrorist" and to "kill him." However, imagine if one of the attendees yelled out the most derogatory racial term dealing with Obama of all and imagine what would happen then?

McCain and Palin would certainly have to make a denouncing statement. But the reason why is the disgusting answer. McCain and Palin would have to apologize and chastise their supporters not for the insult to Obama, but because of the insult to THEM. That it makes THEM appear to be racist.

My point is, it is okay to label Barack Obama as a "terrorist," one who wants to see Americans be harmed and killed, or to allow someone in their crowd to chant "kill him," but it would not be okay to use one of the nastiest words of all because it would then be seen as a reflection upon McCain and Palin. In other words, if it would not hurt them to use such a derogatory word, they certainly would do so, as illustrated by their allowing of such cries of hate.

Hope this makes sense. It's kind of hard to explain. And I am not even coming close to saying it's okay to use words like the "n" word or the "c" word, only that, these sick people have somehow found a way to slur a person with almost as vile words and be hoisted with revelry by mobs of assholes.

1. I'm not so sure they would
castigate an audience member for using the "N" word, though. That's the thing.

I think they are entirely comfortable with that language and are encouraging its use.

By tolerating "terrorist" and "unAmerican, and "kill him," they are making it clear that they accept this kind of talk as OK. Therefore, the even nastier stuff is OK too.

It does make me afraid for Barack and his family.

:scared:

2. If they were to...the only reason they would..

is because of how use of such a word wold make McCain/Palin look. That's what I'm trying to get across. They wouldn't care much about what it meant other than it would make them look bad. Hope that makes it a bit clearer.

3. That's what I'm saying though
I understand where you are coming from,

BUT,

Honestly, I don't think they would think in those terms, that the "N" word is all that bad. To them, it's just a word, so why be embarrassed about it?

I think you are ascribing to them shame that they perhaps do not feel in this regard.

I hope I'm wrong, of course, but I don't think I am. I'm from the land of Jesse Helms and most racists around here (rarer than they used to be) are pretty darn in your face and unashamed about it.

4. Recall that Palin laughed when an AK radio host derided her local opponent as a bitch
She gets on just fine with that ultra-partisan crowd. Expect a daily rise in the invective level at any rally where she's speaking; the silver lining is that if she gets carried away by the crowd's enthusiasm we might get video of her laughing and winking when someone yells out something truly outrageous (although the Freeper types will try to pass it off as an Obama campaign provocation if it happens).

7. And McCain laughed when one of his supporters asked "How
do we beat the bitch (Hillary)?" They are not bothered by inflammatory language - they love it.

5. The strangest and most troubling irony I am seeing in the McLiar/Moose campaign
is that their staff is culling the media into fenced areas during appearances, cutting off chances to interview attendees, and basically castrating the ability for them to report on these events. At the same time, the staff is standing idly by and letting comments such as those spouted over the past few days go on without any sort of intervention or direct removal of the source from their events.

It is becoming very clear that they are removing all potential sources of negative analysis, yet at the same time, openly allowing for some of the most vile and despicable activities in a national race in decades.

A strange dichotomy that speaks volumes to both the values and inherent concerns of the McLiar/Moose campaign and staff.

Edited on Tue Oct-07-08 02:12 PM by cmcdonald08
but i do not have enough comments to post a new thread yet (i had to change my du login because i no longer have the email i originally signed up with, so when i forgot my password i couldn't retrieve it!) - anyways, this letter has been brought to my attention and i was hoping someone else would post it here. Its being circulated around Virgina, particularly to those who have Obama lawn signs and is essentially calling these people racist because they are voting for obama.
