This is seriously some scary shit. Sure, it was funny seeing the pic of Palin at the GNC with her arm outstretched like the Nazi salute, with the white lighting bolt behind her (floor lighting, but still an interesting coincidence). Or was it coincidence, or perhaps foreshadowing? Now she's traveling the country, using her own cult of personality to draw in huge crowds, then whipping them into a hateful fervor. It's gotten to the point now where her followers feel completely at ease yelling "KILL HIM" and "SIT DOWN BOY". And Palin condones this behavior, basking in the adoration of her followers.

Then she went rather AWOL while they hid her from the press and we had a good laugh, but the fact is that when she's in front of a (political) home crowd, she really brings out the worst in them. Obama doesn't allow booing at his events, and even McCain has a greater sense of decorum (or used to, earlier in the campaign...although that's not saying a great deal). I've felt for a while that McCain is looking increasingly like Chancellor von Hindenburg, whose appointed role is to get elected and then fall ill or die in order to make way for the leaderene.
