Obama's on it! Slams McCain for wanting to slash Medicaid and Medicare
Obama camp: McCain would gut health coverage for old and poor
15 hours ago

ASHEVILLE, North Carolina (AFP) — Barack Obama's White House campaign Monday accused John McCain of plotting to impose savage cuts on government-run health care schemes that insure the elderly and the poor.

It was the latest attack from the Democrat's camp over an emotive issue that is taking on new urgency at a time when many Americans fear losing their jobs and thus the health care coverage that comes from their employers.

The Obama campaign seized on a Wall Street Journal report that cited independent analysts as estimating the Republican's policies would cut 1.3 trillion dollars over 10 years from Medicare and Medicaid.

"This plan would be a disaster. It would dramatically reduce the quality of healthcare for older Americans and the poorest and sickest of Americans," former Florida senator Bob Graham said on a media call.

3. I agree. Once the word is out that McCain wants to screw seniors
his support from that all important group will plummet- and not just in FL. I think it's a game ender.

8. Here in Canada, American Politics this Year is just so damn Addictive!!
I cant stop reading all about it....Ive been hooked since just after Super Tuesday of the primaries...Quite fascinating this ongoing drama. The things i've learned for the first time from all of this:

1. Republicans dont care about the people at all.
2. The Media prefers to have more right-leaning spokespeople in front of the camera.
3. The Media is very much interested in horse races than real data and will lie if it necessary
4. The Media will only tell half the truth and say it in a way which lets the audience come to a false conclusion
5. The democrats play too nice, but uniquely Obama is a combo of a fighter and a rule player

Your country is changing for the better as Barack Obama is becoming the clear winner in all this.

9. Medicare doesn't cover enough, cutting back would do so much harm to disabled & seniors..
who may have NO other health coverage and desperately NEED it. Medicaid cuts would harm the low income and poor who NEED health care and can't get it otherwise because so many lower paying jobs don't offer decent health benefits.

FWIW here's the DU thread with the link, snippet and discussion about McCain Plans Federal Health Cuts: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x3529005
