Joe Biden & I are on the same page :-) Are you?
Me, Sept. 27 on DU in response to nutjob letter to editor of my local paper:

The simple fact is that Republicans had control of all three branches of government for six years and responded by digging the country into a deep hole, both economically and with respect to our standing in the world. It's only fair now to give Democrats an equal opportunity and see what they do with it.

Joe Biden, Oct. 2 in VP debate:

Look, folks, this is the most important election you've ever voted in your entire life. No one can deny that the last eight years, we've been dug into a very deep hole here at home with regard to our economy, and abroad in terms of our credibility. And there's a need for fundamental change in our economic philosophy, as well as our foreign policy.

(Joe was of course more eloquent than I.)

*** My letter published in local paper today! ***

What's my point? We're both aiming our guns in the same place. We're not responding to right-wing talking points with left-wing talking points, instead we're aiming directly at the independent & undecided voters, and possibly disaffected Republicans as well.

So if you happen to be trying to convince someone or are writing a letter to the editor, try to avoid looking like the leftie equivalent of the RW nut job in the above journal entry, because the voters we're trying to reach will just ignore you. Just focus on the fact that the Repugs dug us into a hole and it's time to give the Dems a chance to dig us out.

:patriot:

2. That's always the best approach. Stepping awayy from the progressive
approach makes one see the issue in a practical way--and that convinces people.

Plus, it isn't as hard to do as one might think.
