Landslide Coming! I take humbly back all the bad things I ever thought about Obama!

As you all know, I was no fan of Obama's during the primary. Not only was I a diehard Hillary fan, but Obama, on his own, independently of my enthusiasm for Hillary, quite frankly left me cold as an Alaskan Winter. I actually and strongly believed that he was the one democrat that had a chance of losing to McCain -- who I thought was the one republican who had a chance of winning the Presidency after 8 years of our Republican nightmare.

But events have proven me wrong. Obama is kicking butt and McCain is seriously cruisin' for a bruisin' -- a real paper tiger, that guy is turning out to be. I'm still vastly admire Hillary and still think she should be on the ticket. But hey, with a democratic landslide coming, which will give us control of both Houses and the Presidency, that's small potatoes. Hillary will have her moments in the legislative sun.

I know it's not over and that a month is an eternity in politics -- I mean look at where we were a month ago. But there is no way we lose this thing now unless we just give it away. They are in no position to take it from us. Period. And I though I think part of it is due to the shape of the playing field -- what with a worldwide economic collapse and all happening right in the middle of the most intense part of the campaign -- I also have to admit that Obama and his team have played the hand they have been given about as masterfully as it could be played.

So let's go folks! Let's kick some repugnant butt and have a helluva good time doing it.

And I have been very pleased in many of your posts lately. You have passion, and that is what your support for Hillary is; as mine was and is in reference to Barack Obama.

In the end, it has to be about improved policies for this nation; and personalities becomes quite irrelevant.

I am ironically thankful to Hillary for hardening Obama and preparing him for the General Election, by throwing that kitchen sink. Odd how things seems to have worked themselves out.

I didn't support Hillary originally because I just believe that America was innovative enough to be able to come up with more than two families for the presidency. As an immigrant, I have had to believe that of the 350 million people in the United States, that there were more than Bushes and Clinton to usher in a new Century.

and he was targeted by the GOP and RW as the most beatable, therefore the one they wanted to get the nomination. The RW got what they wanted with their own efforts to get Obama the nomination along with Obama's base of support in the party. But they can't even beat Obama.

Obama is going to win in a landslide. That's not just because of a bad year for the GOP. THat's because he's running a very astute, butt-kickin' campaign. Sure there are lingering doubts about him in the minds of many, but you have to attribute his standing now not just to external circumstances -- which do favor us overwhelmingly -- but also to the stellar nature of his campaign.

I'm as tough a sell for OBama as any democrat could be. And I am now completely sold.

Your comments appear to blur the fact that Barack Obama beat Hillary Clinton in the primaries. IT is Hillary Clinton who had the machine, the money, the backing, the last successful Democratic President, the experience, and the poll numbers in her corner. Iowa was not "given" to Barack Obama; he earned it the old fashion way.... examplerary retail politics. That win along with his systematic and innovative campaign apparatus built from scratch is what gave him the edge. He should get that credit; not the Right Wing nor the GOP.

Barack Obama has broken all records in campaigning there are, and it wasn't because of what the GOP and the RW did. Rev. Wright on a loop for 3 weeks was not supposed to be a blessing of Right wingers nor the GOP nor the Media. Operation Chaos would have been aimed at getting the vote out for Barack Obama, if your theory was correct...which it isn't.

Face it....you have nothing to support your hypothesis beyond typing stuff, and then believing what you have typed. You give no credit to Barack Obama's own brilliance, which is depressingly Sad, really. You are, in fact, in denial.

How exactly would she be "totally unbeatable"? I think you have some rather strange notions about her as a candidate, given that she obviously was not "totally unbeatable"--she got beaten, after all. They wanted Clinton because there are millions of people who hated her guts when Bill was President, and they were counting on that tradition of anti-Clintonism to rise to the fore.

Obama is almost completely free of 'baggage', and they knew they couldn't capitalize directly on his race. They have always feared him because they knew the kind of support he could marshal.

13. Obama has impressed me since January... and as an independent I have hopes about the Democrats

... I am hopeful that the Democrats will be able to stay on target once they're (hopefully) elected. I'm an independent who's feels seriously betrayed by the Republicans. My reservation about the Democrats always concerned their fiscal discipline. Democrats want to tax and spend, but I see no distinction between that and borrowing and spending. The Republicans have certainly abandoned the concept of fiscal responsibility... and I my hope is that the Democrats are going to buy into the idea.

So I hope the Democrats stay focused on their mandate.

The economy. We have to get the deficit under control or eliminated. It is crippling us.
The war. Afghanistan was fine... Iraq was a lie from the get-go.
Health care reform.

I just hope they can stay away from the sidebar stuff. One thing that the Republicans did that was particularly disappointing... was that in spite of all these issues facing this country, they chose to fart around with marriage amendments... flag burning... etc.

If the Democrats jump on pet topics like gun control (i.e. gun laws that don't impact crime)... then you can probably only count on my vote this election... unless Obama engineers an economic miracle (which I wouldn't put past him).

There were many concern trolls who claimed that Latinos loved Bill and Hillary, but would never support Obama because of supposed tension between Latinos and African Americans. McCain's record on immigration in 2005 was supposed to attract Latinos away.

I personally see strong support for Obama among Latinos in the northeast US.

32. To some degree, I understand

I liked Obama from the get-go but didn't think he had a chance. But his stance on the war was appealing to me, as a veteran. I hoped he would do well because in my heart of heart's, I truly believed that any one person who voted for this invasion does not have the wisdom or judgement to be President. But, I didn't think he had much of a chance. In the early primaries I put my money on Biden and Edwards. I underestimated Obama's game: not just his ground game, but his entire game.

I came to the realization probably around February that this dude had a real chance because if he can derail the mighty Clintons then, well, anything is possible. I know Clinton fans in real life who didn't see it coming. I know McCain supporters now who are about to experience the same upset. This guy is unstoppable. He can turn weakness into strength. His team calculates while his opponents spin. His ground game is silent and deadly. Textbooks will dedicate chapters to the Obama political strategy.

In the end, I like Hillary. Hell, I like everyone who was running. We had an allstar line up, but only one can claim victory. After November, I think we'll all be winners and each candidate who dropped out will have their moment to shine (well, minus Edwards. He's beyond repair). I think we can all officially say after this last season that Obama truly deserves to win. He's earned it.
