Palin says Obama 'palling around' with terrorists

By JIM KUHNHENN – 14 minutes ago

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is accusing Democrat Barack Obama of "palling around with terrorists" for his association with a former 1960s radical.

Palin was referring to Bill Ayers, one of the founders of the group the Weather Underground. The group took credit for bombings, including nonfatal explosions at the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol four decades ago.

In remarks to GOP donors in Englewood, Colo., on Saturday, Palin said Obama seems to see the U.S. as being so imperfect that, in her words, "he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."

Obama served on a charity board with Ayers in Chicago and has denounced his past activities.

She was once a member of the AIP, a rogue political group whose sole aim is for Alaska to secede from the union.

On edit: The reason she wouldn't reveal what she reads is because her favorite reading material is the newsletter of the John Birch Society.

15. We knew it was coming, need to get a better response than how old Obama was...
Folks, we all knew this one was coming.

Here in Illinois the big talk bubbling under the radar is that Renzo is talking to the feds about Obama. But that is not the issue. I'm pretty sure Obama is crafting a better response than the "oh, I was.....year old when these people were planting bombs."

So I would suggest trying to find just as depraving people that McCain has associated with over the years. I'm sure there are some out there.

37. 3/4 of the population doesn't even know or care about the Weathermen or Weather Underground
Right at this minute, there's a popular http://www.wunderground.com/">weather-tracking site by that name.

To me, this nonsense is becoming as irrelevant as the oft-cited "Where were you when JFK was shot" statement. Time is moving quickly and a generation has been born, has grown up, and have produced children since then, and they really don't care what happened in the '60s or early '70s, nor do their children or grandchildren.

And the additional nonsense about Rezko? The man is in jail. The end.

Yeah, Todd had mentioned something about greek one night, but Sarah got all nervous and said that wasn't in the Bible, and that babies don't come from there anyway.. :)

On another note, she fits the Ideals as an Icon for Diana the Huntress, nearly classical features you might find on any greek and/or roman statue (remember when you see a Roman statue that they stole that style from the Greeks..), and that's another way that she reaches people in a visceral fashion..

Personally I think she's got the bone structure of a Moose in her big face, and as a sculptor I don't find her attractive at all.. her features aren't all that interesting..

Winky the Shit Stain.. I love it :)

53. Really?
Palin can't name a Supreme court other than Roe vs. Wade? Not even Brown vs. Board of Education, Griswold, or Marbury vs Madison? There is also the Dred Scott decision and Plessey vs. Ferguson two of the worst Supreme Court decisions in my opinion that were ever made. I just listed five causes off the top of my head and I'm a nobody. Surely we expect and deserve better from a vice presidential candidate.

I knew she wasn't that smart. I didn't watch the debate, but since I'm an intern for Save Darfur Coalition, I had a chance to see the transcript of her answer to the Darfur question. It took me a while to figure out what she was saying, because the syntax was so garble. Well anyway I'm still surprised at her ignorance, its unbelievable.

52. That's what I think, too
When a candidate starts turning into Joe McCarthy, it's desperation time.

I made up this timeline today:

1994 Obama joined board of Joyce Foundation

1995 Deborah Leff, then president of the Joyce Foundation, suggested to Patricia A. Graham of the Spencer Foundation and Adele Simmons of the MacArthur Foundation, that Obama would make a good board chairman. Ayers not present and had not suggested Obama, Leff said.

1995 Graham invited Obama to dinner and asked him to serve as chair of Chicago Annenberg Challenge foundation, a national school reform effort

March 1995 Obama became chairman of Chicago Annenberg Challenge

later 1995 Obama and Ayers met through the Chicago Annenberg Challenge; they attended six board meetings between 1995 and 2000, where both were in attendance, Obama as chairman, Ayers to brief members on school issues

1995 Ayers hosted a gathering at his town house three blocks from Obama’s home, at which State Senator Alice J. Palmer, who planned to run for Congress, introduced Obama

1997 Obama spoke positively of a book by Ayers he was reading, “A Kind and Just Parent: The Children of Juvenile Court,” to a Chicago Tribune reporter.

2000-2002 Obama and Ayers both served on the seven-member board of the Woods Fund charity; the board held 12 meetings in that time frame

2001 Ayers donated $200 to Obama’s Illinois State Senate re-election campaign

Based on today's New York Times article.

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/04/us/politics/04ayers.html?_r=1&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&pagewanted=print

That is what they are reduced to.

60. It's sad, but predictable.
On CNN during the VP debate they followed reactions from undecideds. Every time either Biden or Palin attacked the other, or was even perceived as attacking the other, the graphs bottomed out. This will so backfire on McCain. I'm almost giddy that they're going this route. :)

Love the timeline!

or at least I think I do.

Now, while my numbers aren't high and I only registered a couple of months ago, I have lurked here almost daily since 2004 -- basically to keep my sanity during Bush's second term. Election night last time almost put me in the hospital.

I've noticed a serious change in tone on here in the past couple of days -- and what has happened in that time? Obama has surged in the polls, not just nationally, but in some very key battleground states. It just seems a very, very strange time for many posters here to start harping on certain things.

The biggest one I've noticed is complaining about Obama's stance on gay marriage.....Well, surprise, surprise folks, because he has been publicly against gay marriage way before you started supporting him, voting for him and donating to him.

This is just one example. And it's very suspicious to me.

I think we should all pledge to each other to ignore any and all posts that criticize Obama and let them drop to page 20.

If obama's camp don't defend and start hitting back , we will loose. we have to get ready , this will be really nasty.

read this :

Obama is surging in state and national polls, and McCain aides now are telling reporters that they hope to stop him with new ads featuring what they consider unsavory “associations,” likely with convicted money launderer Tony Rezko and former Weathermen radical William Ayers.

McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said Saturday on “Fox & Friends”: “When we talk about Barack Obama, there's a lot of things that we’d like to talk about. There are associations that are important to who Barack Obama is as a candidate, who he’d be as president. When we're talking about ourselves, we’re talking about a straight-talking maverick. I think that is punching through. But we’re going to talk about Barack Obama's failed record.”

58. I'd like to know what anti-choice terrorist Palin associates with.
The largest number of US terrorist attacks in the last 20 years were by anti-choice groups attacking abortion clinics. Palin apparently participated in abortion clinic protests. I want to know what terrorist organizations she's affiliated with.
