Obama Ad: "One Word" (VIDEO)
Obama: 'One Word'

Yet another Obama attack ad on healthcare, which casts McCain's plan as a risky tax hike, set to air in the battlegrounds.

There's a sense in which Obama is taking a traditionally Republican approach here. The McCain camp says the combination of tax hike and tax credit would emerge as a modest gain for low- and middle-income families, and a hike only for the wealthy, a distinction Obama seems to be fudging.

The core argument: "The McCain tax could cost you thousands…or even your health care."

That latter threat is that employers will stop carrying coverage because of a new tax.

You can see why Obama's camp sees this line of attack as so potent.

3. It's a winner. McDouche's plan is a bonanza for insurance companies,
one the main culprits of our failing health care system.

5. It is a potent issue. I agree. McSame's plan to tax healthcare benefits
is very cruel. And very Republican.

And then his compassionate solution is to provide a tax CREDIT of only $5000 for people to purchase insurance !! A rebate. Whoopee. That would only provide a partial year of coverage at my current rates.

It is an excellent topic to do an ad on because it shows McSame as the dedicated Republican he is. Deregulate. Free market. Dog eat dog. Country Club First.

7. McCain created a plan because Obama, and Clinton had one he so he created some bullshit to prevent
himself from being accused of not caring.

9. About Time! The Question Is Whether McCain Explains Or Just Lies
I remember reading about the McCain health plan, and thought how the first rule is do no harm. Eliminating the tax exemption for employer health plans ruins the incentive to offer such plans. McCain supporters have argeud that "good" employers will retain such benefits in order to attract employees. The real answer is that employers will jettison some plans in order to be competitive with the Walmarts of the world.

10. Damn straight. Stop letting the GOP have the tax issue
I'm so happy to see Obama take the offensive. Democrats are so concerned about the fairness of their ads that we usually allow the GOP to beat us unmercifully about how we would tax and spend. It is high time we shoved that back at them. Maybe if they get a look at that argument from the other side, they will be a little less eager to start down that path the next time out.
