Why don't states with multiple time zones establish uniform voting periods?
Or at least pass laws banning a vote count until all the poll close?

5. That sounds like a "prior restraint." Not good for the First Amendment.

2. I don't think there are that many...
...actually. The part of FL that is in CST is quite small, compared to the whole state. The Dakotas are basically empty. So far as I know, TN, KY and IN, the other split states, have a uniform poll closure already.

7. Why would a state not want uniform poll closure...
It just sounds wacky to me. 6 to 7 for the Panhandle and 7 to 8 for the rest of the state so that this shit doesn't happen anymore. And likewise, why can't every other state be blackmailed to do the same? If money could blackmail the states into raising the drinking age to 21, why can't it be used to blackmail the state on the issue of logical and harmonized regulation of election?
