especially Palin--have done to "maverick" what McCain did to "I was a POW" and "For 5 1/2 years I didn't have . . ."?

I think that to most people it is just a punchline now.

Oh, and when you want to wear a complimentary label, it's better to let others give you that label rather than trotting it out yourself every four sentences.

2. If you take it from the CNN audience meter, that's very true.

Every time - EVERY time the word "maverick" came up, there was a dip in the tracking line. EVERY time. With BOTH men and women. Made me think that maybe they oughta consider giving the ol' "maverick" a rest out in the ol' pasture somewhere, doggonnit.
