Did Ifill ask that Palin stick to just answering the questions put to her?

And not simply recite memorized mini stump speeches that had little or nothing to do with the questions?

1. No. Well, once in the beginning she tried to steer Palin back on track, I think,

with a gentle "Would you like to talk about..."

I'm hearing a few people here criticize her for it. Personally I think it was fine to let Palin say whatever popped into her head, and leave it up to the American people to decide.

and her memorized little rote bits of recitation, and played by her own rules.

In fact at one point Palin flat out told Ifill that she was going to "answer what she wanted" whether they liked it or not.
