Is Palin really dumber than Bush?
She definitely has the "ditzy bimbo cheerleader" thing going. Can she at least pronounce "nuclear"?

1. That would be a tough one to call. I don't think she can pronouce "nuclear" either.

21. And yet, I don't think she's as smart as Bush. That's why she's so scary.

2. I haven't seen any evidence that she's smarter than the average HS dropout.
Both of my next door neighbors are much smarter than Palin. What are the odds?

3. Accents don't convey intelligence or the lack thereof.
She's certainly sharper in a conversation than Bush. She's probably more coherent in dealing with things like family business dealings (something Bush never could do) or speaking about issues she's comfortable with. If she read a book, she could proabably remember it better than Bush could if he ever read one.

However Bush undoubtedly has (as Bill Clinton observes from all the times they've met & talked) a much stronger "emotional IQ" than her. In a conversation, he has a strong read on people and what they want to hear. He's daffy as all shit, but he can instinctively please & charm people in person.

Palin can't do that. Bush would have been able to read Couric's intention and been a lot more guarded. Palin, bless her heart, probably thought she was gonna win Couric over... until it was too late to rein in her blabber mouth. There may be a part of her that still doesn't know Couric is not her friend.

5.  6-5-4 Palin is way dumber than Bush.
Much of Bush's schtick is a put on.

( 6 years @ 5 schools to get a 4 year BS liberal arts degree pretty much excludes her from rocket science and brain surgery)

7. I agree. I think a C average at Yale definitely trumps that.
He's no idiot. He's just not an intellectual.

6. They have the same lack of intellectual curiosity.

But I think Bush has a better instinct about people. I think he's also simply better at playing the game than Palin is. He's been raised in this shit. And I think he must certainly be a quicker study than Palin because he can at least talk about an issue, and even though his language isn't refined, you can at least follow along for the most part (even if your stomach is turning at the same time) and know that he at least understands his own view on the matter.

So to wit, yes, I think that Palin is dumber than Bush. It's one thing to not be intellectual. It's another to be so dim-witted that you cannot tell when you've made a complete ass of yourself. Palin is an empty-headed, arrogant twit. I also think there is something to be said for the idea that Bush acting a little "dumb" was an act. I don't think he's nearly as inept a person as some think him to be. He just has a very simple, one-track mind and he's very shrewd.

17. My impression of Bush mind is he's apathetic about subjects he doesn't really care about and it come
...comes out as an unrefined talking point but something he REALLY gives a shit about he sounds like Einstein and you can count on one hand the subject Bush cares about.

Palin on the other hand is unwittingly incompetent, someone told her it was OK to be unaware of the politics of your country as a governor

9. Nuclear
She pronounces it like Duyba...thought there was video evidence (can't remember which though as it was before all the Sarah Palin Hits started coming so the "nuclear" (sorry, just can't bring myself to type like they say it) song fell off the chart.

I think Palin is dumber than Bush.
I think McCain is scarier than Bush.
The last sentence really scares me. But I believe it to be true.

10. For what it's worth, here is how "smart" Bush is estimated to be
Per Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_George_W._Bush#Intellectual_and_psychological_ability

Intellectual and psychological ability

George W. Bush's intellectual capacities have been questioned by press, media personalities and politicians on numerous occasions.<106><107> This tendency led to farcical hoaxes such as the U.S. Presidents IQ hoax.<108> A real historiometric study, published in 2006 the scientific journal Political Psychology, estimated the IQs of all US presidents since 1900 by analyzing each president's speeches and publications. The study ranked Bush second to last, with an estimated IQ between 111.1 and 138.5, and a mean of 125 (an IQ considered above average).<109> In an interview, it was noted by the study's director that "Bush may be 'much smarter' than the findings imply" but that he "scores particularly unimpressively for 'openness to experience, a cognitive proclivity that encompasses unusual receptiveness to fantasy, aesthetics, actions, ideas and values.'"<110><111><112>

12. Palin does not have the background or education for the job, there is noting wrong with
going to a state school btw it's what you do when you get there, she is intellectually lazy and incurious about the world outside of Alaska now that's all fine and good if you have no plans for running for Vp.

16. Effectively, yes
but there was a good point on here yesterday that a pretty sharp friend echoed which is that given equal opportunity that she might measure up to Dubya.

I don't bag on her education as such, seeing how I took as long but I had to work 10 hours a day, along with a heavy recreational drinking habit.

18. Dumb or disinterested ...
I think she thought McCain was asking her to be the first lady, rather than vice president. Seems that way when she talks about the role she wants to take in the McCain administration.

Ugh. my stomach turned over while typing those last two words.

Same with being a Joe sixpack - he just fakes it.

Look at it this way, he's president. She never will be.

20. Not dumb just ignorant
Bush is just a moron. IQ of about 70-ish. Palin is intelligent, she doesn't know anything about her subject. She's been plonked into this position by McCain cause he ran out of ideas and needed to gamble. She looks to me like she desperately does not want to be doing this and had she been ignored as a possible VP candidate this time around she might have been a future possible Presidential candidate in 8 years, but this has come too soon and has ruined her reputation forever. McCain in an attempt to salvage his own career is destroying hers..so there is something to thank him for there.
