Edwards Dismisses GOP Criticism
I know I'm biased as a long time Edwardsian, but I think this response is utterly brilliant, and absolutely accurate. I am pleased that Yahoo reported it, without the usual silliness tacked on. Please give it a good rating if you agree.

Defending John Kerry (news - web sites) from biting GOP criticism, Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards (news - web sites) accused Republicans of using their convention to attack the Massachusetts senator rather than offer ideas for solving the nation's most pressing problems.

The GOP spent "all of their time and all of their energy trying to tear down a patriot," Edwards told a town hall audience Thursday in this Philadelphia suburb.

Edwards also made the rounds of Thursday morning talk shows to respond to the criticism of Kerry, calling it "completely over the top." On CBS's "The Early Show," Edwards mocked Cheney for saying "the black market network that supplied nuclear weapons technology to Libya, as well as to Iran and North Korea (news - web sites), has been shut down."

"He said that with a straight face on the same day that the Iranians themselves were declaring that they were moving forward with their nuclear weapons development program," Edwards said.

5. This is why Kerry will win.
Yes, he's made mistakes, but he came back from crushing defeat at the end of 2003 to triumph and I have no doubt he will rise above these swift boat ads. I may not agree with everything Kerry has done, but there's something to be said for his keeping his dignity and honor rather than stooping to Rovian low blows. He is starting to fight back against those ads, and is doing it smart.
