Start to "reply" to a post, think about it half-way through, decide I either sounded stupid or might piss somebody off, and finally decide to cancel. I just did it again a few seconds ago. I've done this more in the last two weeks than I have in the previous five years combined.

I think I do this more than I actually follow through with posts. It's certainly not a bad habit. A lot of times I ask myself, 'Do I really mean what I'm about to say?' 'Is it decently though out' 'Does it add anything to the dialogue?' and finally, 'Does it really need saying?'

75% of the time, it's no to at least one of those questions - DELETE!

Anyway, psychologically, people do this exact same thing hundreds of times in their daily conversations. It's called a filter. The more you use it on the internet, the more your mother is proud of you.
