This map is looking totally different from any Dem winning scenario in the past. Obama has truly changed the game plan.

The current tally is: Obama/Biden 353 McCain/Palin 185

4. The crowd at Obama's NV rally was enormous
Someone posted pics here yesterday, but it reminded me of the turn out for him in Germany, pics of which appeared on all the major front pages. It was just a sea of people.

5. what happened to the sea of red?
I want a landslide, just pound McCain and Republican congresspeople into the dirt everywhere. Work this 50 states thing as much as you can and run these bozo's out of office.

6. I just saw this too - Obama had 301 on yesterdays map
He's pulled ahead in Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, and Virginia.

I thought the latter two were wishful thinking, and Florida somewhat a longshot, and Ohio leaning GOP. SO its striking that Obama leads in all four!?! And keep in mind RCP used averages to tally their electoral count..making it even more objective.

7. I feel like I'm dreaming when I look at the map.
I think we Democrats are so shell shocked that it's still hard to believe we may have a Democratic President again. I was talking to my Mom and said "I think we're going to win",they live in the UP of Michigan and have the only Obama sign for miles around, she told me she never gets her hopes up and hasn't since Adlai Stevenson lost (it broke her heart).I told her "dare to believe,Mom,I think were almost there".

We cannot let down. We have to keep the pressure on and win it big!

11. The Cinton map was more blue but in different regions.
Clinton never won VA or NC or IN. Obama could win all three.

13. There really isn't much left
Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, North Dakota, Montana, what would that be, about 40 EVs?

It would be nice to see North Dakota and Montana flip. A nice solid blue across the North, Idaho, Utah and AZ an island, with Texas and the Deep South! With AZ potentially turning blue in the future they become the party of the South and Mormons.

19. Actually there's 1 tossup left, Missouri, ironicly a state viwed as a bellweather
New Mexico is viewed as a bellweather state to, and has been off by less then 1% of the national vote for I forget how many of the last few elections (at least 5), but Obama has consistently held a lead there for a while.

20. It would be awfully nice to get MO. I think it's doable.
My cousin volunteers in MO and she is very hopeful. St Louis can do it again like it did for Sen McCaskill.

22. New Mexico has been within 3% of the national vote the last 5 cycles
The number at right is relationship to the national margin:

New Mexico:
'88: Bush (51.86 - 46.90) = + 2.76 Democratic
'92: Clinton (45.90 - 37.34) = + 3.00% Democratic
'96: Clinton (49.18 - 41.86) = + 1.21% Republican
'00: Gore (47.91 - 47.85) = + 0.45% Republican
'04: Bush (49.84 - 49.05) = + 1.67% Democratic

It demonstrated signs of moving in our direction in the 2006 midterm. The self-identified liberals jumped to 24% in the New Mexico exit poll, which was an outstanding sign. That's the number that generally puts a state out of play in our camp. Gore and Kerry won every state with at least 24% liberals.

21. Wow, that is a beautiful sight. Brings tears of joy to my eyes. I have a question, though:
Is there any one particular electoral college map that is more reliable/accurate? The map at Electoral-Vote.com shows 286 to 190, while 270towin's tally is 321 to 217. It's confusing.

23. Yeah. Me too. It seems they all have different ways of determining a significant lead.
Some are more conservative than others. I think RCP is fairly accurate. They use averages of all recent "legitimate" polls.
